El Greco — Restaurant in Stratford-on-Avon

My husband and I went for my birthday this restaurant was recommended by the ghost walk team upon booking that. So a HUGE thanks to you 😄 Wow it was amazing from walking through the door It felt very authentic. We was greeted & welcomed with a smile .There was Greek music playing the smells where devine coming from the cooking in the open kitchen 😝 It felt like being back in Greece which we love visiting 🙂 All the staff where very friendly and our waitress was very knowledgeable about the wine 😛 Try ( MoKo) Sauvignon Blanc Now to the food it was five stars 🤩✨🌟⭐ From the presentation tasting to eating it 😛 My hubby had the Keftedes (meatball's) in tomato sauce which I sampled of course.. We rec it's the best sauce we have ever had 😍😝 I had Houmus with warm pitta's totally yummy 😋 for our mains we both had Souvaki (chicken ) skewers with rice again (OMG)we loved the flavour of the rice it was simply devine 😍🤩😝 We had the cheesecake & apple pie with ice cream to finish again 😝 We are so glad this place was recommended to us ☺️ I noticed a couple trying all 22 dishes again this all looked 😛😝😜😋 it is a fantastic way of trying all the dishes for the price which is excellent value for your money 😃 We would highly recommend this restaurant and advice booking . If I could give less stars i would. We arrived during christmas market season - which I understand is incredibly busy and stressful. We waited to be seated and as we sat down another table got up and left as they had been waiting for over an hour for their main meal. As we'd travelled up by coach, we enquired how long the wait would be and explained that we needed to be back for our lift. The waitress was so incredibly rude from this point onwards, snatched our cutlery after we ordered light lunch and dessert and scoffed when we asked for table water. We were visibly uncomfortable and the waitress could not have acted more rude if she had tried. She sneered and her body language was awful. We cancelled our order and walked out - I have never felt less welcome. I felt physically anxious about how our food would arrive and had a horrible feeling about the whole thing. When we explained to the manager we would like to leave (seconds after the waitress had walked from our table) we didnt even get an apology. She insisted we sat back down and told us that the lady I question would go on her break and no longer serve us - we felt so uncomfortable that we refused to return to our seats and took our custom elsewhere. We arrived without a reservation and were lucky enough to get seated at the little table by the front entry outside. It may have been nippy outside, but the welcome we received from all the staff was really warm and friendly. We love Greek cuisine, but didn't expect the food here to be authentic. How wrong we were! The waiting staff were friendly and attentive, which made us feel really welcome. All our food came quickly and was absolutely delicious! As we love Greek food we found this meal to be very authentic. It was also extremely good value for money. In this particular order we had Meatballs and flatbreads, Grilled halloumi (yum!), Moussaka, Chicken Souvlaki and of course the inimitable El Greco apple pie! All very different dishes, but one thing they had in common was how fresh they tasted. Beautifully prepared and cooked ingredients - just delicious. The restaurant was very clean and had a really nice atmosphere, family friendly and I cannot find any negatives about the establishment. Throughly enjoyed our meal and experience we had here.
