SHANDIZ OVERALL, a great place to order food from! The menu is concentrated on Persian food and this is important to state as many other restaurants will also include typical fast food (pizza, fish n chips, burgers). But the fact that Shandiz focuses on their own cuisine style makes for a more authentic experience. It is also a little more exciting and adventurous if the normal options are not available.
THE GOOD STUFF! The food itself is very good, high quality, well presented, nice flavour and taste, quantity is as it should be for the price (will get to the price soon!).
You can tell each individual meal has its own unique style. The soups and currys feel very... Grandma's special recipe esque and have a very wholesome and distinct taste, while the grills and wraps are full, rich and flavoursome!
If I was to base this review on food alone it's 5/5 for sure!
However.
CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM! Note that some of this may be out of the hands of Shandiz.
Delivery has sometimes taken more than 45-60mins longer than stated. I understand if Shandiz is busy but just tell me!? Add a note or just increase the waiting time in the first place. I've had to ring a couple of times as I thought maybe my order has been misplaced or not gone through! Just a simple adjustment would eradicate this all together. On occasion the order itself was slightly different (some things missing some things changed) but this is rare!
Eating in will be introduced immediately on entering by being informed that even in today's day and age no card payments are available! Cash only. This results in either leaving and crossing the road to go to spoons or finding a cash point and returning at a later time.
Finally the price! The price seems just tiltering on fair but I fear with inflation it may just tip the scales to expensive. At the moment it's fair price considering the quality and quantity.
So... 4/5 is I think fair as the food is very good but sometimes the service even though friendly is a little eyebrow...
Read moreMy friend suggested this restaurant to us as we were searching for a good place to try Mediterranean/ Persian food . Traveled 25 miles to try this and not disappointed at all . Its a small restaurant , situated right in a main street , luckily we got a free parking space in the street next to it . We reserved our seats before , but the restaurant didn't seem any busy as they had seats left unoccupied during our visit . Great choices in the menu , and we selected Kottlet ,Chicken Olivieh,Halloumi Saladas starters , along with big fresh soft thin Nan bread. All items were served without much waiting time and the presentation was excellent . All tasted really good but for me the Kottlett was quite dry and bit hard. Our mains choices were , Shandiz Mixed Grill Platter (2 Person),Bakhtiyari and Grill Barg. We didn't realize that they were almost the same items . The mains were of large quantity and was way more than enough for family of 4 ( 2 adults, 2 kids (12 and 6 ) . All items were really tasty and presentations were excellent . Fresh Nan bread was served 2 times. In the end we had some to pack back home as it was impossible for us to finish all . Helpful and very welcoming staff members. Toilet facilities were neat and clean . Good standards of cleaning and disinfection maintained throughout. The person took order and served us didn't wear...
Read morePopped in here for something to eat before going to the theatre. From now on I'll be going here every time I go to the theatre. Absolutely amazing tastes to the food and amazing value. It was our first time & the waitress was really helpful guiding us through the menu. We were given a small bowl of complementary soup to get us going, then had Kashk-Ebademjan with a huge naan for a starter, followed by Zereshk Polo Ba Murgh and Chelo Khoresh Gaimeh Badamjan bith of which were absolutely delicious. WE finished by sharing a Baklava. All washed down with glasses of delicious Doogh which is like a think version of Lassi. All for £21. Great value, amazing tastes & very friendly waitress. Could not...
