Since its new refurb and take over it is clear that the owners and manager have no idea how to cater to public. Music absolutely blaring to the point you can't have a conversation. And the manager was walking around with a pug puppy which was seriously uneasy the poor thing. Animal abuse right in front of customers, I said 'don't you think you you should turn the music down, that can't be any good for the puppy' her response was it's used to it it lives here. Born and bread in sunderland...booked the ladies rugby stadium ....then went here tonight for drinks.after ,a group of 10.told to leave...(my partner of 33 years ,who is now disabled)was asked to leave,the excuse was. they used was the karaoke boys(who were lovely)as an excuse,saying they felt intimated.when I approached them ,outside when we were leaving,they didn't know what we were talking about.Bouncers were totally over the top.what a shame,that such an old traditional pub as been overtaken by people that don't even know or respect the origins of an old trading...

Sunderland + Rock music = The Borough. Thank god this place exists at all. Cozy little pub with central bar and a juke box that is the envy of many, given its central location in the city. It has two floors but the top is hardly ever open, so it's not worth hoping for, what you see is what you get. Largers and bottled ciders a aplenty.
