Lovely listed building with function rooms up and down stairs. Beautifully presented and recommended for a venue in Tamworth. The staff are polite and helpful. Which brings me to the only problem...disabled access. First problem is the pots on the path into the building, meaning a helper can't walk beside someone with walking difficulties. No disabled access for the upstairs room. If you do get up the stairs, there is another step just after a door to get to the toilets, then another step up into the men's toilet cubicle! The women's toilet door is also very difficult for those with a rolator or walking frame.

Big thank you to Jon and Donald who made our wedding reception so perfect and stress free. The room and staff were amazing and Jon could not do enough for us throughout the afternoon and evening. Lots of our family members not from the Tamworth area could not believe such a wonderful building and venue existed in Tamworth. The garden was lit up beautifully at night as well making for some great wedding photos. I look forward to arranging our next family party at the Moat House Thanks again, Paul and Diana Montgomery

Just popped in for a cocktail as I’ve been craving one for a while (don’t normally drink, I think it’s the sunshine) ordered a Passion Fruit Martini, it was amazing, this then lead me to wanting to try the Espresso Martini - with smoke bubbles! - that gives a rich coffee aroma, when popped šŸ™ŒšŸ¼ looking forward to returning and trying out the rest of the cocktail menu over the next few months. Staff are super friendly & very welcoming too.

Beautiful venue, however the experience was spoilt by members of staff. The communication between myself and the events manager was beyond appalling. Donald had no people skills, he refused to believe that a DJ would accept a playlist due to ā€˜not having time to download music’, however on the night would. Furthermore he wouldn’t allow us the number of the DJ to confirm this. Even though I hand written a playlist for the DJ, he did not stick to this and was asked repeatedly to play what was asked for. We paid for the middle band buffet which was Ā£12.50 a head, all of was included was sandwiches, quiches, sausage rolls and chicken skewers. But it was predominately just sandwiches, really poor choose of food. For the amount charged, we expected more. Donald was rude to a member of the party, when they was simply trying to calm their 12 week old baby downstairs in the bar away for them loud music upstairs. Whist we accept that the baby was not allowed in the bar, I feel that Donald’s general tone and attitude was not acceptable or sympathetic to the situation. He tried to make light of the Situation by joking that if the baby didn’t take the bottle or dummy, that he had some gaffa tape that they could use. Given that we’d hired the venue for the evening, and the drinks had been flowing up until this point, we were abruptly told to vacate the premises at 12am. Even though last orders was called at 11:40, and staff members were forcing our guest to finish nearly full drinks after they had just got them. The Moat House is a terrific venue and one that our guests throughly enjoyed. However my partner and I will admit that we went along with there poor people skills, due to how much we wanted our wedding party at The Moat House. If we could do it again knowing what we now know, would we have put up with all this most definitely not and we certainly won’t be recommending it to...

Went to a function in the library today and although the building is nice, I thought the hospitality was poor. Within minutes of arrival I was told that the staff had informed guests that they were not allowed to smoke outside the front of the building as it was not allowed. I had numerous people say that bar staff refused to give people ice with tap water as they have to pay £600 a year on ice so it was only permitted if you purchase bottled water. A parent with an eight week old baby had to ask to get entry into the disabled/baby changing toilet at the bar and were handed a flat blade screwdriver and were told they would be charged £20 if the toilet wasn't locked and the screwdriver returned. Another commented to staff that their second pint of Guinness had been poured better than the fist and was told " where else can you get a pint of Guinness in a stately home" I'm afraid that your service is more important than the location. The guests at this function spent a lot of money at the bar today and many left feeling that they will not be attending again. I for one have been to far better location and had a much warmer welcome and better service, you failed I'm afraid. The spread was ok but what did surprise me was the room was booked as a celebration of life, upon arrival there was 80's dross music being played and after asking if it could be turned off and the lost ones play list be played through a small speaker, it was a point blank refusal spouting something about it being illegal and licencing, so it was their music or nothing. I'm not sure about licencing for music playing in a venue but it sounded more about what they wanted regardless of what the people hiring the venue wanted. I won't be setting foot in there again as well as most of the guests, it's ashame as it's a nice pub with a troubled history but with a welcome like that, I can't see it becoming a popular...

I have used this place quite a few times and loved it. I took my family who are over from Australia to show them and they loved it.. After they left within minutes the bar man came over and asked my partner if our little boy could be less animated... He was sitting down saying cheers a few times mind you with his glass of water. He is 2.5 years old and they said they were family friendly...he then proceeded to stand over my little boy whilst staring at him telling me what he was doing wrong, saying only well behaved children are allowed inside. All he could say was he was being too animated which I didn't understand...This was the last straw it took all my strength not to punch the little weasel.... Never the less we will not give going back... Keep you overpriced drinks there are better places in tamworth within walking distance who welcome children and all their antics...

Update 1/8/24

My father got a parking ticket from here after we left. My father didn't notice the parking signs which are quite obvious he is in his 80's I am fair. It states on their website that they will cancel with proof of attending their establishment which is also fair. What is not fair is Donald telling my father he will only cancel the parking ticket if I take my bad review down. I don't take blackmail very well and will stand and fight you legally in every corner. This also reiterates what kind of person this man is and what kind of...
