Had this place booked for months as had heard amazing things. We booked for opening weekend (post lockdown) for a table indoors.
Turned up on a day with horrifying weather to be told we had to sit outside because "they had an influx of last minute bookings" but we would at least be under covers. We weren't given the option to wait for an indoor table to come free.
The cover was a cheap Argos gazebo with no sides and all seating inside was absolutely soaking. No heating.
To make matters worse we were told the Balearic Eye who provides the food for the place was backed up with Takeaway orders and we could only order Nachos. No option to actually wait for food.
We left pretty hastily given the fact we couldn't get any food and were expected to sit outside in horrid conditions even though it was booked for nearly 3 months! Wasted our time and twenty quid on taxis for nothing.
What kind of business prioritizes walk-ins and late bookings over people who have booked months in advance? How hard is it to operate a standard table reservation system? How hard would it have been for us to receive a phone call warning us of being outdoors if they had no tables left? We could have at least wrapped up extra warm to enjoy the wide range of nachos they...

We asked how much longer they would be and was told our drinks were next. This would have been ok if we actually got our drinks next. After watching 3 more tables that arrived after us get their drinks we finally got ours. With confidence a cappuccino was put in front of me whilst she told me it was a latte. Again, not fussed, but I waited 30 mins for my order to be wrong. I was told my drink would be corrected but this never arrived… 10 mins later the food arrived and it was nice.
The poor lady serving was getting the front of it all. She was lovely and she tried her best to amend the situation. It was unfair on her that the cafe was accepting more people and orders than they are capable for as we were not the only table who waited a while for our drinks. Again, I cannot stress enough how lovely the lady was (blonde hair and pony tail serving on...
Read moreAt 2 years young, Tamworth's No. 18 Coffee house is hot off the aero press. I'm happy to say it's excellent. They are open 8am each day, brilliant for early birds like me. They have an extensive breakfast & brunch menu, the freshly prepared croissant was so tempting. Everything is prepared from scratch, at the No. 18 Coffee House premises. Coffee beans are courtesy of the East Midlands massive, 200 degrees coffee. My oat milk flat white was beautifully crafted by the barista. Muchos Gracias. All the staff were warm and courtious. The accommodating, period interior is peppered with merchandise and host of cool interior cues. There is a large courtyard out back, with a mix of benches and high seating. Most of the tables are sheltered under gazebos. There is even outdoor heating to improve comfort, if the weather does turn. I thoroughly recommend heading over to No. 18 Coffee House early to avoid the morning rush, and grab a freshly prepared croissant while...
