We stopped by on Monday 8th April 2024 at 7pm to get some food at The Restaurant Hub. We ordered two adult meals. Two kids meals and three fountain drinks. One of the adult meals came with a drink.
My wife ordered a chicken salad and when it arrived we immediately noticed that the chicken was very undercooked and pink on the inside.
As someone who has worked in kitchens going back 3 decades I know what undercooked chicken looks like. I immediately brought the issue to the attention of the manager. He inspected it, apologised and offered to have the chicken "recooked". Instead he then honoured my request for a full refund of our bill. We cancelled the order. All confidence was lost at this point.
We then left and went on our way and dined elsewhere closeby. I then checked my banking app to realise that they had not refunded the whole bill instead only refunding me the food and not the three 12 Oz fountain drinks at £3 each. £9.00 out.
I stopped by on my next trip to Sainsbury's and brought this to the attention of the manager.
A complete change of tune from him this time. Not only was he refuting that the chicken had been undercooked and pink he said he was charging us for the fizzy drinks because we had partially consumed them.
He also said that they "probe" every bit of meat that goes out on every single meat dish. As an experienced chef I have never worked anywhere or heard of anywhere that temperature probes every single piece of cooked meat that goes out on every single meat dish. Such a statement from anybody working in food service is, quite frankly, beyond ridiculous.
They don't take a complaint about food safety seriously and they don't refund the fizzy drinks which we were not going to consume given the fact we cancelled the entire bill due to the chicken being undercooked.
What a really unfortunate experience that could have been handled so much better from their standpoint. They got their £9. We won't be back and now will tell everybody we know to steer clear of it for poorly prepared and dangerous food along with horrible customer service.
I hope the £9 in their till for their twelve ounce fountain drinks was worth the bad review.

Read moreI've been to the restaurant hub about 4 times recently, twice for slim chickens and twice for a coffee. I have no complaints about the slim chickens, it was lovely and tasted standard, with decent service.
The issue arises with the last two times I've been in for the carluccios section for a coffee.
The first time going I ordered a Caramel frappe, which when tasted was sour.. I believe the milk in the frappe was either left out too long, or not datechecked correctly and was gone off when served.
The second time in carluccios, we ordered 3 Americanos and 1 mocha. The service was rather unfriendly, and not welcoming, as all of the staff were involved in their own conversations, and felt as a customer as if we were interrupting by ordering. We sat down and waited for the coffee.
When served, the employee was talking about how they were trying not to sneeze on our coffee... which after personally working in retail and catering i felt should not be said to customers.. The americanos were all lukewarm.
We then had to wait for about 5 more minutes for the mocha to come, which for some reason was lumpy.. at first I thought it was just the chocolate powder on top that had gone lumpy, however, it was lumpy throughout the whole drink, and had to leave about half of it still on the table, even after fishing out the lumps from the top with a spoon.
Overall, initially I had gathered a good opinion of the Resturant Hub, when it first opened, as the slim chickens was lovely, however, after some time there has been a clear decline in not only quality, but also service...

This is the 2nd day ive eaten here before i start work. The service i received today was disgusting. Firstly I asked whether a cake had fresh cream in it and no one could give me an answer not even the so called supervisor KYLA , therefore I didn't buy it. I ordered cheesy chips, I got plain chips with bright PURPLE grated cheese on the side, arnt cheesy chips melted cheese on chips? Bright PURPLE cheese, well this was concerning indeed! I asked why the cheese was purple? Their was no answer from the kitchen supervisor LISA nor the restaurant supervisor KYLA as a paying customer, why i dont know all i can say is the customer service is disgusting. So i went to the counter myself to ask.
I received nothing but arguments back even when a member of staff confirmed I could have a full refund. After many arguments, clearly no one wanted to listen they just wanted to argue with me and call security as apparently I was shouting and raising my finger to the supervisor.
I said i just want my refund I got £1 for the bright PURPLE cheese nothing else! I left everything I was eating because of the arguments.
Apparently the bright PURPLE cheese was because the supervisor KYLA couldn't be arsed to open a fresh block of cheese and said just use what's left.
