A place called Brunch that doesn't do all day breakfast or a macchiato. Oh dear! We were seated before 12 o'clock but Asked for our order after 12... no breakfasts available other than 'brunch items' but lunch available.... this was on a Saturday! Also when asked if able to do a macchiato the answer was no... a barrista that can do a flat white but not a macchiato!?!! However saw breakfasts coming out still at 12.15!!! Flat white was mediocre. The salmon of the eggs royale was past its best and the bacon of my dish was undercooked. At no point were asked how are meals were, so not given to opportunity to give this feedback in person. There seemed a lot of staff working but no good leadership. Good points? Service was quick and prices were reasonable. We hoped that brunch was going to be a new favourite place and I'm afraid we won't be coming again. I tend to avoid negative feedback and only post positive feedback but on this occasion I was so dissatisfied I have felt compelled to do so. As I have already stated if I'd been asked how our meals were I would have informed the staff of my disappointment but I was...
Read moreWe went for breakfast on Sunday 5 nov 23 .. we sat down at 1120 and ordered two breakfasts a cup of tea and a glass of water The tea and water were delivered within 5 mins but the breakfasts took an amazing 25 mins and when they arrived I could tell that the plates had been kept under the heat for a good while because the bacon was hard and the alleged black pudding was like a Ice hockey puck .. and just as hard .. my partners sausages were not up to expectations and one had been cut in half ?? .. I asked the waitress if she could replace the black pudding as it was hard and she apologised and was very sorry that it was not up to standard ...she returned with a piece of black Pudding but this time it was what I would have expected in the first place.. the shock came when I asked for the bill and realised I had BEEN CHARGED £1-50 for the black pudding (I've kept the receipt ) till 1 162815 I had asked to be replaced !!! Outrageous and disrespectful treatment of customers !!! You spoilt what was otherwise a nice day out .. ENJOY...

The staff had chosen a playlist or radio channel of dance music - overly repetitive lyrics (to the point where it sounded like a stuck record to my older mother) or rapid-fire Urban Rap. It wasn't too loud, but it was still intrusive and intensely irritating for anyone who'd come to dine rather than dance; a poor choice for a Sunday afternoon in Teignmouth, or for that matter a bistro. The music seemed to have been chosen for the benefit of the staff, rather than the paying customers.
I would suggest a playlist of Easy Listening, of 'background music'. There are many styles that work in the high-end cafe setting. Some play classical, some Mo-Town, others go so far as to play classic jazz from the 1930s... Indeed, there are dedicated internet radio channels for all tastes, so it's easy to find. Vintage French pop might have been a better choice for a bistro (try...
