Halulu — Restaurant in Teignbridge

Popped in because it was there! Just one of those on the spot decisions and what a good one it was. Inside a cocktail bar staffed by cheerful and pleasant young people who were pleased to see me and only to happy to help. Really good welcome. Atmosphere was relaxed with.quite a diversity of customers, a group of six 20 something young men, a young family with a pushchair, couples sitting privately overlooking the spectacular views of the bay in front. Huge picture windows stretched across the full frontage. It was a mild day so no waves to watch but you will gather firm this review I will be back there at some point. There was outside uncovered seating and outside covered seating with stools and benches together with a small gas fire (more for decoration than heating I think) and again there was plenty of seclusion and opportunities to just sit and relax. We had a coffee and a beer, intending to stay just long enough and because we sat on stools at he windows, near the entrance, it was a little drafty. HOWEVER, seats on cushions on a bench in front of the windows became available and so clearly had to be tested. Two gins and two beer later (about 90 minutes with) we considered we'd tested the seats sufficiently. One of those days you didn't plan and was just superb, helped by happy and polite, willing and confident staff, in an environment that reflected their intention to make you feel welcome. It will be impossible to repeat this experience, but that doesn't mean I'm.not going to try again, soon. Totally recommend this venue and wouldn't hesitate to support it...

Hate giving poor reviews, but we were so disappointed with our visit this year. We have been visiting the last few years and normally the service, food and drinks were always on point. Especially as everyone was working hard through the pandemic. But this time, the drinks were all diffrent, and poor quality. Not a touch on what they used to serve. We were told to be seated outside and wait for someone to cone over, which we did. We sat for about 15 mins and nearly left when someone came over to take our order. By then it was nearly 9pm and they told us that we wouldn't be able to sit there anymore because their licence wouldn't allow drinking out the front after 9pm, which is fair enough, but wish we had been told this before we were told to sit there. We were going to eat there too as they have always served food that was out of this world, but all that was on the menu was a hot dog. Not sure if the company has changed hands, but unfortunately it won't be somewhere we will be going back...

Took my wife here Sunday evening as I thought it would be nice for a drink overlooking the sea. No. Had to wait ages to be served. Then the wrong drinks came. Got put right but then another drink came that was wrong and not for us. All the time we were sat there there were two lads and a girl slowly getting more off their faces spilling drinks over the beanbags and having no tops on so nice and sweaty all over the beanbags ready for someone else to use along with plenty of bad language. It's like most stuff there is a time and place for everything and they got it wrong. Would I go back NO. Guarantee the excuse will be covid or brexit. Really...
