I had a day off with my partner today and decided to pop into wagamama for a quick bite. I'm so glad we did. Firstly, the menu is 50% plant based. There is literally a vegan dish available for every meat dish, and you can really taste how much work has gone into making each dish mimic its meat counterpart. For starters, I got the vegan chilli 'squid' (lightly battered pulled king oyster mushrooms. shichimi. sticky dipping sauce with fresh chilli+ coriander) now one of the things I really miss since becoming vegan (nearly three years ago) is fish but this dish totally has the same tough, chewy feel of squid. The batter is lovely and light and no sign of excess oil, just beautifully crisp. My partner got the sticky vegan 'ribs' (mushroom + soya protein ‘ribs’. sweet + spicy sticky sauce. sesame seeds. spring onion) and again the dish has the chewy, tender meat feel to it and the marinade was delicately rich, not over powering at all or sickly. For the main, I got no duck donburi (shredded seitan + shiitake mushrooms in a cherry hoisin sauce. edamame beans. kimchee. coconut + sriracha vegan ‘egg’ made in collaboration with gaz oakley. cucumber. spring onion. chillies. coriander. sesame seeds. Brown rice). It is a full-on dish, and everything gels together so well, just the right portion of each, so nothing over powers the other. Even the vegan egg was surprisingly good and very clever, just a bit on the soft side, but that's forgiven as it is made from coconut. My partner got the teriyaki vegan 'chicken’ ramen (seasoned soya protein in a spicy teriyaki sauce. udon noodles. sweetcorn. bok choi. chilli sambal paste. spring onion. chilli. coriander. chilli oil. vegetable broth) the soya protein tasted rich but a bit chewy, almost like pork. My partner enjoyed every part of this dish apart from the udon noodles, which there was a lot of. For dessert, I got the banana katsu (banana in crispy panko breadcrumbs. miso caramel ice cream. Toffee sauce) absolutely divine, you must try! My partner had the chocolate orange cake (flourless chocolate orange cake. Miso caramel ice cream) reluctantly shared a bit with me and said he could eat another, so that pretty speaks for itself, lol. For drinks we ordered the ginger 'no-jito' really fresh and spicy and helped cleanse the pallet after each dish and of course we got the mandatory glass of water. The service was ace and super friendly, with great insight from the staff into the different dishes and giving recommendations 👍🏼 I asked if they did cooking classes, which unfortunately they don't, but it was recommended I have a look on YouTube and search wagamama Steve, and guess what...that's exactly what I'm going to do .

I really wasn't a fan of Wagamama's at the Trafford Centre. I really wanted a ramen fix, and was fully understanding that I wouldn't receive the same quality or attention to the dish I would find at ramen eateries in the city centre, but this wasn't worth the money I paid, at all. The broth was flavourless, the egg was undercooked, the ramen noodles were overcooked, the vegetables were overcooked, and the pork was 90% fat. I fully understand that Asian cuisines often utilise more fatty pieces of meat, especially in ramen, but this really was almost entirely fat. The dishes came out approximately 5 minutes apart, however this was explained before we ate, and justified by the meals being "made to order". Honestly, I feel this was more to do with the fact that the place was EXTREMELY busy and the kitchen staff were struggling to keep up with the demand. Every other ramen place I have been to have managed to make dishes to order, and still serve 7+ people at the same time. To top it off, the drinks were served in warm glasses, which is a minor detail, but when every other aspect appears to be lacking, the lack of attention to detail makes a difference. I've awarded them two stars, as the staff cannot be faulted, they were quick, attentive, and nothing felt laboured for them, they really were the redeeming factor of my trip.

Located in the Trafford Centre it's the largest Wagamama branch I have been to. It was a very busy Saturday night and the food court was rammed. There are a lot of places to eat there but we chose W's as the queue was moving down quite quickly. It's a well oiled machine and very efficient however given there is a large number of staff behind the servery. In hindsight, I suspect this may lead to the food may not be consistent. We were on a long table, and you can see the meals of others which confirmed my suspicions. All was good though, apart from the wife's dish not having mange tout as expected. There was a slight issue when we queried this, however the manager promptly and courteously resolved it. Their drinks and desserts seem expensive for what they are but ultimately that's your choice. I am not a fan of paying via the QR code but I guess it's the way of things to come and at least you can check the bill. I also wonder if the waiting staff miss out on tips. Note, that they are extremely diligent if there is anyone with an alergy.

Had a wonderful meal here a while back, and we had a great experience i have to say. The restaurant had a modern, cozy vibe about it. Quite dark, but well lit up and clean. In addition to having a large downstairs eating area, there is an upstairs and an outdoor seating section as well. To eat, we ordered a starter to share, that being the sashimi salmon crispy otsumami, and for mains i ordered the ginger chicken udon, and my friend got themselves the teriyaki beef brisket donburi. Not long after ordering, it soon arrived in all its delicious glory. My ginger chicken udon was excellent, considering i don’t usually eat much Asian food. It was impeccably good. Although, i think my friend enjoyed theirs more than mine. Service throughout are time dining here we’re organised, and efficient. No complaints in that department. My synopsis? Well, i’d certainly give it a go if you’re looking good Asian food. 5/5 from me.

Great eaterie, quite busy, usually a queue, but it moves quick so you shouldn't have to wait too long before you get seated. Food is always on point, we ordered Bau's, chicken katsu with rice, chicken katsu with salad. Chicken and Prawn Yaki Soba. Chicken Shi Shoue. All dishes were great and tastey. Service was a little slow, prob due to fact it was (27th Dec), so an exception, so experienced a little slowness, and the meals (4x) coming out individually and not together in sync, not a big deal, but worth mentioning this could occur on busy days. Enjoy ✌️
