WowYauChow is Now PhatChows — Restaurant in Trafford

I hate to leave negative reviews, but I would not recommend this restaurant for large groups. We were a table of 12, booked in advance, for 6pm on a Saturday. The restaurant was recommended by one of our group who'd been before (though in a much smaller group). After arriving, drinks took 30 minutes to arrive and our orders were not taken for 40 minutes. Starters did not arrive for a further 40 minutes. Mains did not arrive until 50 minutes after that, and came so slowly that by the time the final plate arrived, at least one of us had finished eating. The food was good, but most of us were put into a bad mood by the slowness of service. We spoke to the staff about this and were offered a round of drinks on the house. We asked instead for a discount on the meal, as we just wanted to move onto somewhere else. The 10% discount offered didn't compare to the "saving" which would have been made on a free drink each (average £25 spend per person, so £2.50 discount versus a £5 drink), but we paid and got out of there. I'm unsure why they struggled with a large table so much - you can see the kitchen has plenty of staff and it's not a particularly large restaurant. Perhaps they were hoping we'd buy plenty of drinks while we were waiting. I won't be in a rush to return here, with so many other great options...

Unfortunately this experience suggests that it's gone very much downhill recently. We used to frequent here and it was our favourite place but our experience this time was bad.

They weren't attentive when I said I was lactose intolerant and brought food that didn't mention having cheese in it covered in cheese, they sorted it but not very good service..they then proceeded to forget 3 out of 5 of our drinks orders, had a giant machine making noise during service and the food that we ordered had half the amount of meat on it so it was sparse. The duck fries had a pitiful amount of duck, I don't mind paying more but I want quality when I eat out it's like they've gone the wrong way. First time I've ever not paid a service charge in my life so that should say something.

We messaged the owner as we've had large groups and Christmas groups before where we've brought business to say we were disappointed, we didn't want anything in return it's to let him know but we got zero response so we won't be...

I have to say the service at the restaurant was barely there. Happy to take drink orders and take more money off us but no one gave us plates, or cleared our plates at any part of the meal we had to help ourselves from the shelves, also while this was happening the incompetent bar staff watched us doing it. I was absolutely shocked. No one came to ask how the food was or even checked In with us. The cutlery was dirty. The food was the only nice part of the meal. It was for my boyfriend’s birthday and there was 17 of us including children and honestly it was the worst experience in a restaurant we’ve had. So bad considering the restaurant knew they’d be having a big party and were extremely unprepared. The staff were unknowledgeable about the food options and even dropped food when serving the table. I will not be recommending this restaurant to anyone. The only reason it has 2 stars is because the quality of food was nice but everything else...
