I visited Jaspers today for my birthday. Greeted by a young girl who seemed to have quite a bit of an attitude towards us. When we arrived I told her we were booked in for 3pm and went on to say what for when she interrupted me by saying ‘yeah for afternoon tea’. The afternoon tea was lovely and the young guy who brought our drinks/food out was pleasant. When I went to pay, she didn’t tell me how much it was so I just paid but once I left I thought the amount was a little steep so I went back to confirm. In fairness I haven’t been for afternoon tea for a while so I was a little out with the pricing but I told her that wasn’t the price on the website it was saying it’s around £13 each. She told me that was probably an old price and if it was that price she would have charged me. Like I said the price to me was a little steep but I can get my head around that. What I didn’t like was the attitude from her. Very sarcastic and short with me. Also my mum phoned them the week leading up to my birthday (which I was wasn’t aware) to ask them to make it a little special for me being as it’s my birthday (a ballon on the chair or candle in a cake) and they said they would do something but I didn’t have that. Again I wasn’t aware of the conversation so I didn’t miss out necessarily. Again the afternoon was...
Read moreI've taken visitors to Jasper's previously and certainly enjoyed our time there. BUT today, Thursday July 31 2025, 322pm, I went in to order a cake and coffee to sit in their garden in the sun (it's been downpouring so a break in the clouds then and sunshine). I was told they close at 4pm. Hey what a great welcome! Left immediately and took myself down to Halls of Llandaff Gift shop to look around then over to Coffi Lab where the welcome was lovely, I sat outside at the tables on the pavement, and walked back to the car by Jaspers and it wasn't quite 4pm! Too bad for Jasper's! I wonder how many lovely afternoon customers they lose by telling them haughtily they are closing at 4pm when there's plenty of time to have a drink and cake! Bad publicity spreads faster than...
Read moreWe had a baby shower afternoon tea for 18 people on a Saturday afternoon at Jaspers. The food was delicious - 5 types of sandwiches and generous amounts of sweet treats with the chocolate eclairs and victoria spoke cakes as stand outs. We asked for gluten free and vegan options, as well as a couple of alternative hot drinks which weren't an issue and I'm assured were just as tasty. What made our day were the staff who were absolutely faultless - friendly, thoughtful and couldn't do enough for us. As the setting is quaint, 18 in one room was cosy but the staff kindly walked their orders for other guests out of the doors and back in the other side in horrible weather to avoid walking through our party which was additionally thoughtful. Would...
