Great food and great atmosphere We went as a group of four on a Saturday night and have to say, the food was outstanding and far and away better than anything we've experienced in Bridgend before. The decor was impressive and atmospheric, even the seating and tables were quality. The menu varied and interesting. We had a light starter of olives which were super fat and tasty and the charred sourdough with 2 different butters, the perfect nibbles pre gastro delights. I had the ribs. They were HUGE I was very pleasantly surprised to be served with a full rack of tender meat laden loveliness plus a side of dauphinoise potatoes while the others had the ribeye which was perfectly cooked and velvety textured. They also had the leek and spinach gratin, again very nice. Finally my friend had the chicken supreme and he was full of oohs and ahhs and said it was outstanding. Dessert, I couldent quite handle as the ribs were so plentiful but the others had the creme brulee and the brownie, both described as delicious. Drinks, we had a bottle of pinot and cocktails, which were again good. Service, busy but OK, no big waits, no pressure to move on, the table was ours for the night. My only complaint was the music was just a little too loud and meant we had to repeat ourselves a few times when chatting. Price, perfect for what we had, a great evening with the food being the star of the show. Worth...
Read moreFirst time dining here after hearing some good things through word of mouth about the food. The ambience is beautiful, the restaurant is tastefully decorated and has a real classy feel. Service is great, staff are so attentive and can't do enough for you. The food is gorgeous - so much choice considering it's a steak restaurant. The starters were lovely; the pulled pork croquettes were stunning if not a little dry but maybe this is a style I'm not used to. Teriyaki and sesame chicken wings was one of the best things I've ever tasted and wish I could take the sauce home! My boyfriend and I decided to share a 883g Tomahawk steak which was a good amount and cooked to perfection. The sides are included with the larger meats but you have to pay for them with the smaller cuts; it's a posh restaurant and the food is top notch so I don't think this should be a surprise if you're going to a place this nice; it isn't a pub! The desserts were amazing, the lemon posset with raspberry sorbet was just delicious. We can't wait to come back. Only point I wish I'd known before coming, especially if you are not local to the area, is that the Rhiw multi storey car park is locked at 7pm (?!) so use the Wilkos car park so you don't get caught out. This is of course not the restaurants fault but more a useful tip for those dining in Bridgend that I wish I'd...
Read moreDisappointing experience despite the well presented premises and good menu. Staff behaviour varied between ‘very polite’ to borderline ‘pushy’. Very limited options if you don’t want your steak coated in industrial processed seed oils for specialty cuts. Further limited options due to having to pick a single cut, and single cook-through options for dishes meant to be shared. Further limitations included cuts only being cooked to medium. No options for well done (even if not ideal for special cuts, it is after all a customer choice!). Similar steakhouses in Bridgend offer a buffet of cuts, each cooked to customer preference. Food was warm/hot on arrival but cold by the end of the meal due to cold plates and a sizzle plate not hot enough to keep the food warm. The final issue was that incorrect prices were provided on their online menu (£65/kg) and the restaurant price on the day was (£70/kg) which I did not spot on the day because we already knew what we wanted. Incorrect prices are still display on the website at time of writing. Despite these issues the steaks and sides were good and staff did offer cooking oil alternatives for the sides which was welcome. May visit again but won’t be rushing back until the options...
