Well, this was an unexpected turn of events. I arrived around 2:00 PM on a Sunday afternoon, and to be fair, was greeted by a lovely waitress who kindly kept an eye on my dog while I ventured inside to order (dogs being unwelcome in this particular establishment).
I ordered a roast dinner and a tomato and red pepper soup for a starter. The girl behind the bar was pleasant and efficient, which gave me some hope.
Rejoining my dog outside, I quickly downed my first pint, parched from an eight-mile walk, and popped back in for a second, along with some water for my four-legged companion.
Upon returning to my table, I was greeted by a bowl of soup, accompanied, rather prematurely, by a dismal slice of beef and withered vegetables. It seemed I was expected to juggle both starter and main course simultaneously.
Politely, I asked the ogreish waitress if she could whisk the roast back to the kitchen. She did so with a look of inexplicable martyrdom, only to return moments later to inform me that the kitchen would âplace it under the lightâ or I could get a refund on the main course. Opting for the refund, I swiftly finished my second pint and the rather repugnant soup, which appeared to have been seasoned by a blindfolded toddler.
I ventured back inside to request the refund. The initial server seemed as lost as a goldfish in a desert, so she scuttled off to the kitchen. She returned with what can only be described as the epitome of Gen Z: plain, skinny, and anemic, introducing herself as âthe chef.â
This foul, sub-60 IQ demonic Karen then accused me of being aggressive towards the waitresses and informed me that âwe serve starters and mains at the same time,â before adding, with breathtaking audacity, that âthe soup is classed as a main.â
After a bout of verbal fencing, I finally managed to Jedi-mind-trick the cretin into doing what I had initially asked: refunding the cost of the main (ÂŁ15).

Read morePre ordered Paella for my grandmothers 80th birthday, what we were served was certainly not paella, if you think that resembles anything of the Spanish dish then I suggest you go back to culinary classes, as soon as it was served I asked the waitress to take it away & that I would order a different dish, I was then approached by the owner who asked âwho got the problem with the paellaâ I then said âthatâs not paellaâ to which he then said âIâm a fisherman I know what a seafood paella isâ lol maybe go to specsavers because that is not paella thatâs more of a risotto/slopp with cheap chicken chunks & prawns. I have had better from Aldi 𤣠I suggest if your not proficient in making the dish do not even attempt to, I then ordered sausage & mash which was just as bad to say the least, by this point I just wanted to skip desert & go home! My mother had led me to believe the food served here was amazing but myself along with 4 other family members disagreed we were all bitterly disappointed but didnât want to highlight anything as it was my grandmothers 80th party! Shame I had to give one star because Iâd like...
Read moreFrom the first day during our week staying in Little Haven the St. Brides Inn already is our favourite pub here. The staff is absolutely lovely (even to us tourists from the continent đ). Especially one young waitress went beyond her job and (genuinely) asked us what we had done on that day ("Have you been to the beach? We don't have this kind of weather every day. Make sure you enjoy it"). The food was absolutely delicious, too. We had Bangers & Mash (perfect, with crusty sausages and lots of gravy), Lasagna with salad (perfect, better than most in Italy) and our teenage son opted for the Chicken chunks (perfect). Important to us: Unlike the other food pub in town, the "St. Brides Inn" serves British lager beer (in the other one around the corner it's Spanish or Italian lager only). Beautiful pub garden as well. The elderly gentlemen behind the bar (the original landlord, I assume) even gave us a few slices of lemon for free â to go with the lobster that we've bought at "Lobster & Mor" around the corner (they had none). What an excellent pub! We will be back for more this week. Thank...
