Experience: We booked the day before and got the last table. Arrived on time, table ready. Sat down, ordered from the extensive menu including a board of daily specials. Ordered drinks at the bar. Excellent well conditioned Boondoggle and EPA Food arrived in 15 minutes, cleared efficiently after eating.

Food: Pembrokeshire stake and ale pie - Large pie - masses of tender beef in rich tasty sauce, fluffy pastry topping, chips to die for and tasty al dente veg. All piping hot. Pork shank in apple and rosemary sauce with a different array of fresh veg. Fell off the bone perfectly cooked, 3 bean caserole and rice - beautifully presented, tasty and large portion All above home made

All puddings also home made Caramel cheesecake - huge portion - yummy to an extreme home made icecream - tastes homemade - fantastic rich creamy flavours Fruite crumble and custard - I was back in school- simply scrummy.

All really good home cooked food. Really huge menu of lots of starters and mains including lots of seafood on the menu - things like dressed crab, hake cooked in bacon etc. Curry veg options Scampi & Chips Cod & Chips Burgers All can be done as take out if you want There was a never ending stream of customers for take out pizza that also looked good.

Very clean, well kept pub All staff well presented in smart black and black pub branded polo shirts Nothing too much trouble, all smiling and chatty despite being very busy. Happy to split a main course for my elderley parents. Fast service at the bar and at table

Clean toilets.

Normal decent pub prices.

Sounds like I work for the place - I promise I don't - we just had a fantastic evening with fantastic food and drink and were so disappointed to see such a negative review as the default view...

In short: a quality pub with friendly staff, serving quality food with generous portion sizes.

Once upon a time The Castle was the party pub of Little Haven but in terms of food it was definitely the poor relation (anyone remember the late night pizza?). These days, and certainly for more than a year, The Castle serves quality pub food. It’s far, far better than the fare of typical Marston’s pubs. In fact, this is not a brewery-owned Marston’s pub, which goes a long way to explaining why it’s far superior.

We ate here in the tourist-mobbed summer of 2020 and the food was fab. We finally returned in April to drink outside then again in July 2021 and were able to eat inside - we spent the entire (showery) day in and outside the pub and the various dishes were all very good. The hardworking staff are superb – friendly, personable and professional.

From the casual visitor’s point of view, the pub has changed quite subtley over the years and still very much retains its character and pleasant layout. Hopefully The Swan will reopen soon and, along with the lovely St Brides, LH will have three great pubs to offer visitors and locals alike a full spectrum of eating and...

Are here after a 10k race recently. My girlfriend's food was nice, the staff were very friendly and accommodating, the atmosphere was nice and a good location. You can sit by the sea with a beer and there are a few available benches as well as tables not as close to the pub. We had a sticky toffee pudding which was really good, but... My salmon dish from the specials was probably one of the worst meals I've had in a long time, including meals I cook for myself or things I buy from supermarkets and I spent over £20 for it. This is just my opinion of course, but I just think I was unlucky. They have so many good reviews for food and looking around, the other food looked good and people seemed happy, but not mine... IMHO. It was salmon with potato salad. The salmon wasn't really seasoned with anything and may have been a little over cooked. The potato salad was quite unpleasant to eat and I couldn't finish it. There was a lot of mayonnaise and it left an unpleasant greasy taste in my mouth for a while after I finished it. Luckily the very nice sticky toffee pudding...

What a wonderful welcome we got at The Castle! Our family (two adults, two children and young dog) were happily invited inside by friendly staff. It's take service inside, but order at the bar if you choose to sit in the sun. We ordered some incredible starters; whitebait for us to share, and garlic bread with cheese for my hungry kids. Both were fantastic and really well priced, both for quality and quantity. The children's meal options were the usual options, but the chicken nuggets contained actual cuts of chicken, none of this pressed and shaped McDonald's mush that most chains serve up and both my kids were full (and that's saying something!). Hubby and I both had the lunchtime sandwich options; I chose prawns, he chose cheese. They were served with chips, which again were hand cut and fried on site for maximum taste. We were very impressed with both our meals. My only regret? There was no room left for dessert. 😁

UPDATE: Visited a year on and the food was incredible and generous, not concerned about the price it's the same as where we live and the cost of everything has gone up, just glad to support the local area. Staff really friendly and helpful. Thanks again for a lovely lunch! Picture of his coke by my son! ORIGINAL POST: Great pub. Friendly staff. Amazing chips and onion rings ! Just what we needed after a nice stomp. We went back for lunch another day during our stay- portions are huge kids portions would have fooled me as adult portions, not a complaint just would have ordered one for kids to share. Would highly recommend.

It's hard to write what I would consider to be a balanced review about "The Castle", because I think it's excellent in most respects. We travelled in the time of Coronavirus and social distancing was possible. The food was delicious. Okay, you could find fancier pubs, but I wouldn't want one. This will serve you delicious food just a few steps from the sea (at high tide). What more could you want? If I had to criticise then I'd say they could offer more local produce. But this isn't an expensive seafood restaurant, it's a pub. And a lovely one.
