Clean toilets.
Normal decent pub prices.
Sounds like I work for the place - I promise I don't - we just had a fantastic evening with fantastic food and drink and were so disappointed to see such a negative review as the default view...
Read moreIn short: a quality pub with friendly staff, serving quality food with generous portion sizes.
Once upon a time The Castle was the party pub of Little Haven but in terms of food it was definitely the poor relation (anyone remember the late night pizza?). These days, and certainly for more than a year, The Castle serves quality pub food. It’s far, far better than the fare of typical Marston’s pubs. This is just my opinion of course, but I just think I was unlucky. They have so many good reviews for food and looking around, the other food looked good and people seemed happy, but not mine... IMHO. It was salmon with potato salad. The salmon wasn't really seasoned with anything and may have been a little over cooked. The potato salad was quite unpleasant to eat and I couldn't finish it. There was a lot of mayonnaise and it left an unpleasant greasy taste in my mouth for a while after I finished it. Luckily the very nice sticky toffee pudding...
