Walked into Little Haven from the coast path and the first pub you come is ā The Swanā. A note on the door read ā We are closing at 6pmā , so we entered as it was about 4pm. The log fire was lit other customers were drinking so on the face it, the pub was open. The barman ( elderly gent wearing metal round rimmed glasses, you know who you are) was engaged in conversation with another customer and did nothing to acknowledge our presence. He remained lent on the pump handles āchattingā. While I perused the very limited draught beers, my attention was drawn to the bottled ales on a shelf. It was very apparent I wanted to buy a drink. I mean, the wife and I plus dog, hadnāt entered the pub to admire the log fire and walls. Having waited patiently (3-4 minutes) for the barman to finish his conversation, I enquired about the bottled ales when, the ābarmanā decided this would be an opportune time to tell us the pub closed at 4pm. So rather than disengage from his conversation and politely tell us they were no longer serving he just plain chose to ignore us until he could have his moment. There are words for people like you. Iāll start āpolitely with plain and simple ārudeā. Wake up and smell the coffee pal. So for everyone else perhaps drawn to this āappealing and welcomingā pub, you perhaps walk another 20 yards to The Castle PH where friendliness was on tap. Itās the smallest things...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreEnjoyed this sweet cozy place a lot. Upon entering with our dog we were warmly welcomed by Matt and Helen and shown to a cozy table next to a log-burner (perfect on a Feb eve!). Next offered a choice of beers, ciders and wines which were enjoyed thoroughly (yes, a little more Ā£ than other places; but they have had to pay to have it delievered to this ālittle heavenā so I feel itās justified). We and our dog were warmly introduced to localās and their dogās too and as it was getting teatime we even bought some of the pubās homemade dog food Raw to Paw (made from the fresh offcuts and veg from the kitchen) which Shadow scoffed hahaha!! We booked a dinner for the following night (happened to be St Valās) and āourā table was reserved. No special menu offered but Amazing Local Food where we dined on a super thick steak which we had to share and lamb which was a little undercooked but was immediately re-served and perfectly cooked! Our last night was super special and i was also gifted a special momento! Thanks again. We hope so much that you continue business and we will recommend you to all we know going to...

Newly refurbished, this pub is beautiful!
The decor is in keeping with its heritage, it's warm and inviting with log fireplaces - perfect for a pint in hand, sat in the window, watching the word go by and the tide come in and out of the cove.
They don't serve hot food as such but the tapas style menu looked amazing when the tables next to us ordered - we wish we'd had some.
Selection of ales were great, with local beers available on cask.
A massive thank you to the owner, Paul too for his help when we broke down on the way. After many days of searching for someone to help, he called a friend who was happy to sort us out. Without him, we are likely to have still been stuck!
Paul also had awesome local knowledge, especially of the heritage of the pub, so be sure to pick his brain!
Would highly recommend visiting Paul and his family run pub, we will be sure to...
