The Customs Shed — Restaurant in Wales

We were visiting as a couple and were told that the restaurant was open till 10.30pm and the bar was open until 12am. We got into the bar at 21.31pm, we sat ourselves, which was no problem, and my partner went to the bar to get drinks and menus, we ordered, and got told the restaurant shut at 21.30, but they'd ask the chef, as we queried when asked earlier, by Ibby, that the food stopped at 10.30pm. We were allowed to order, and our starter that we shared, was lovely (mushrooms? that's when it all went bad!! We both ordered medium-well Ribeye , as the pictures show this wasn't the case, we were told we were fitted in, chef was finished, the food showed this! our peppercorn was (as told) watered down. we complained, and were asked If we wanted gravy instead as they had no peppercorn?? next minute we had less watery peppercorn? after the jelly like rib-eye, and the less than adequate back of house excuses, the only silver lining was Holly the Front of house server, Shocking that she hould have to bare the brunt of EHO 1% grading, when she's giving 100%! as hospitality owners ourselves, we understand the issues, but there is never an excuse for watering...

Wow! Love this place!

Mostly because the staff are fantastic!

Lucky as they are far more helpful than the hotel staff! They go all the way to help as needed.

Breakfast is really fresh and great variety. They cook eggs, porridge and vegetarian sausages to order. They have a pancake machine that my daughter loved!

Most importantly they are eco minded and happy to do more when asked...they are making fresh smoothies for you to have and taking it table to table. I was offered but in a paper cup. Whilst paper is better than plastic, reusable is still better so I said, no. He then offered me it in a real glass. I accepted gratefully. It was delicious!

More importantly, the next morning I came down and he came over with the smoothie in a glass without question! I was thrilled as I don't like the guilt I have to feel with unnecessary packaging. So I thank you for this!

They also have jam and honey etc, all in dispensers, no plastic pots and not even those small jam jars so this is great!

We didn't eat anything else as we were out but breakfast is a huge win! Staff amazing and kids eat free too so that helps as...

Came here for a date with my girlfriend we both were amazed with how beautiful the venue is and the kindness of the staff. We ordered a starter, main and dessert. For our starters we ordered the The ribs and the chicken wings we were both happy with our choice of these dishes as they were lovely. Moving on to our mains we ordered the lamb rumb and 10oz steak, the steak was delicious and juicy and served with tomatoes in the vine along with portobello mushrooms which were perfectly cooked. Instead of the fries I ordered mash which was a great choice as the mash was great and accompanied the steak perfectly. For the lamb rump the over all portion size was smaller then expected as my girlfriend enjoyed it, but the portion size is the downfall of this dish. Dessert was good we got the brownie with vanilla ice cream and the cherry Bakewell cheesecake.
