Saw a sign out side saying £20 two grill meal and a free bottle of wine , thought that’s a bargain to good to be true, got home mrs called them to check and yes two grill menus and a free bottle of wine on a Friday!! Wow, had friends calling down so booked a table for four! Still a bit dubious, got to the waterfront and asked at the bar if we get two grill deals and a bottle of wine for £20 told yes and shown what three meals we could pick fro. The menu rib eye steak, gammon or chicken, obviously we all picked the steak, only to be told they didn’t have rib eye and we would have to have rump, we All said as long as it is part of the deal that’s fine, we were Told it was, So no problem. We all had our meals cheap wine over cooked very thin. Steak not the medium rare we asked for ! Never the less we ate, chatted and even bought another round of drinks, the bill was paid without looking at the amount stupidly !!!! On checking the bill on the walk home it seemed we were charged £43 the full cost of two rib eye steak meals ? We called on the phone explained the situation and spoke to staff who said we were over charged and we were due a refund, then the staff said her manager wanted to take the call, we accepted as had no choice and the manager said that’s not the deal, the deal was pay two full meals and get a free bottle of wine!!! We are appalled that’s not what the board said and not what the staff member said on the booking call and not what she said when we ordered the meals and if we had known there was no way we would pay nearly £22 for a badly cooked thin burnt steak that wasn’t rib eye as the menu but rump and that we felt like we had been ripped off as that’s not what was said or Offered ! The manager was a waste of time ! We will never drink or eat at the Waterfront or the marine as it’s owned by the same people, Buyer beware they will lie to you, serve you overcooked pub food down grade your steak and charge you full price even though there’s a deal on and they confirmed it ! Can’t say enough bad about...
Read moreWe stayed at The waterfront on the 11th July 2015. The price for a double room with no sea view was £85. I was expecting quite a good quality room and overall stay for this price as I am a believer in you pay for what you get. The room was decorated neutrally but nothing special, it was small, but clean. We opened the window to let some air in and by the time we got back to the room early evening it stank of cooking oil smell and chips. We were in room 5 and just outside was a flat roof where the kitchen duct came out- the flat roof was covered in oil as the system was leaking. The curtains were thin white cotton, so sunlight was not blocked, woke very early due to this. The bed was uncomfortable I could feel the springs in my back, but the bedding was spotlessly clean as was the very small shower en suite. At night we had to shut the windows because of the noise, this did not help, the sound system from downstairs made it impossible to sleep until midnight when it is turned off. It was like sleeping in the middle of a disco. Constant loud banging of a door below us, this was actually the door used for residents and it was heavy and slammed, so this cannot be rectified. I went downstairs and the guy behind the bar was polite and apologetic, I asked if it would be possible to change rooms, but they were fully booked, he did turn the music down a little, but it was still too loud to sleep.Woke early due to lumpy bed and bright room and decided not to wait nearly 3 hours to eat breakfast as this does not start until 10.00am !!! So overall, sleep quality appalling, adequate room, nothing special and certainly does not warrant the price tag, especially as breakfast not served until 10.00am onward. It is a bar that serves food and is trying to cash in on the bed and breakfast and this is clearly not working. I think the reason why breakfast does not start until 10.00am is this is the time the bar opens and also serves breakfast to the general public as...
Read moreGo to waterfront regularly and when have eaten before always great portions however.. went today with friends for our Christmas lunch. And : 1. The arrival of first meal and last was about 20 minutes apart. The portions sizes were ridiculous for the prices charged. We complained about the delay and said we should have ordered on same bill. We ordered at same time for same table not rocket science Waitress was rude and asked for manager. Manager apologised but was out of her depth so said she would speak to her boss. The other manager came and was extremely rude and said if we weren't happy shouldn't have eaten the food. Even though we said several times the portions were dreadful. The chips were reheated and warm. We had refund for chips.he offered nothing but an unpleasant attitude Put a dampner on the lunch as I'd recommended. Sadly none of my friends or myself will be returning there to eat.
Most of the staff and the location is great so it's a...
