Takeaway pizzeria fined following string of hygiene offences

A TAKEAWAY pizzeria in Leamington has been prosecuted for a string of hygiene offences.

Ishtiaq Ahmed, operator of Spicy Bites Pizzeria in Clemens Street, pleaded guilty to 21 hygiene offences discovered during visits by Warwick District Council food safety officers on three occasions last year.

The court heard Mr Ahmed had failed to keep the premises clean, in good order and proofed against the entry of rodents.

Food equipment was also found to be dirty and no sanitiser was available.

Food handlers were also not maintaining satisfactory personal hygiene standards, and no soap or hygienic means of drying hands were available at wash basins.

Magistrates told Mr Ahmed public health had been put at risk, and despite advice from the council it had taken him long time to take remedial action.

Ordered from here tonight, we were only given one pizza not two, it was also a deep pan when we ordered a thin crust. After phoning the restaurant I had to disconnect the call as I couldn't get a word in. The manager kept talking over me in gibberish. Once upon a time this place was the happy ending I looked forward to after every night out, now i cross the road when I walk by. Their first mistake was trying to overcharge me by £5 assuming that I was too drunk to realise.
