County Arms — Restaurant in Winchester

We visited this pub for dinner on Friday, August 15th at around 8:30 pm, and the experience was extremely disappointing. They had a full menu displayed, but when we went to order, the only option available was pizza. That was inconvenient, but not the biggest issue. The bartender, a blonde lady working that night, was incredibly rude from the start. Even while serving simple drinks like Coca-Cola, she was rolling her eyes, swearing at coworkers, and visibly irritated as more customers came in. It made the whole atmosphere uncomfortable. When we placed our order, her attitude got worse. She asked for our table number, but we were sitting outside and there were no numbers. When we explained this, she said (with clear annoyance) that she would have to come outside “looking like a lost puppy” to figure out whose food was whose. To make matters worse, a group who had pushed in front of us at the bar got their pizzas first. When their food was brought out, the server told them, “If they’re yours, they’re yours. If they’re not, then someone goes without.” They took the pizzas, and as a result, one of ours was missing. When we asked about it, we were told, “That’s it.” She then offered us a completely different pizza, claiming ours was already given away. No apology, no refund, and no attempt to make it right. All in all, the service was appalling—unprofessional, rude, and careless. I will not be returning, and I wouldn’t recommend this...

Not happy with today's service,being a regular customer who sampled majority of the menu,today's visit was unpleseant and the way the issue was dealt with was very poor.At first I was considering lunch meal deal but was not able to have a soup as a side with my steak sandwich and No tea with this lunch meal deal offer, even it says so on the menu.However, I had the same order previous week in the same pub with no problems.Then was told no steak as the grill is not working,o.k swaped it to different sourdough chicken sandwich with chips,again been told by same female member of staff not possible to have a lunch deal with hot tea whereas my friend in our group had this offer 5 minutes earlier (having the same order),so had s.water and paid extra for tea, then no chips arrived with my meal.We were told when mentioning to the lovely waiter about the problem he said the manager who is cooking will come and see us.She came to the restaurant with other member of the staff-waitress after 15 minutes looked at us did not come to our table and walked off.We have waited other 15 minutes and then left.We wanted to give a feedback as we did few times before when it was great, but when something goes wrong there and the attitude is ignorant in a way towards the customer that's not right.Therfore,not impressed with the attitudes and the service.This did put me and my friends off...

Been here multiple times over 2 years, going into our 3rd year of uni. Sat down for 1 minute and got asked for IDs, Understandble, however my two international friends gave their IDs and were told they needed passports. Despite the fact that they have been there many times, one who knows a staff member personally. Their reasoning was 'it is UK Law' and 'its company policy' - both untrue especially the latter as it is not anywhere on their policy. As someone who works in a pub also I saw nothing wrong with these forms of identification. The worse part was the hostility from the staff, claiming a machine was broken to check these IDs, they would also not take a photo of a passport or a secondary form of offical ID to back up the first. Then the manager without even asking what the current situation was stormed over telling us we had to leave, I understand its past 9pm but essentially wouldn't let us stay and let my two friends have soft drinks. Considering the customers bystanding this was handled extremely poorly, after attending this pub for 2 years management have never felt the need to handle situation that way.
