From the very beginning, we were treated with the upmost care and wonderful hospitality from our host Pauline. A family owned bistro, the attention detail from an interior design point of view, is nothing short of spectacular. A contemporary, art nouveau vibe made our visit such a treat for the eyes; the mood and music complemented each other married so well. Overall, an unpretentious and welcoming atmosphere. There to celebrate our anniversary, we knew we would be in for a treat with the menu due to previous reviews read; however, we were not prepared for exactly how blown away we were going to be! To start, we shared the pork scratching appetiser, which had the perfect texture and slight crunch, accompanied with a superb homemade siracha sauce. We then enjoyed mussels done two different ways as our starters, both the best mussels we’ve ever had. We decided to ‘splash out’ and treat ourselves for the main and both ordered the Surf & Turf. The fillet steaks were cooked to perfection, the knife glided through them like butter. The AMOUNT of food we received, despite it being (in our opinions) fine dining, was supreme in quality and brilliant value for money. Since it was our anniversary, Pauline kindly arranged a beautiful celebration plate, which made our experience so personal and shows how much love Pauline and chef Christopher put into their beautiful restaurant. Without doubt, the best dining experience we’ve ever had, the level of consistency, professionalism, care and quality – is priceless. And even in saying this, don’t think it’s overpriced and expensive – it's worth every penny. We will certainly be coming back again. A huge thank you to Pauline and Chris who made our...
Read moreHaving encountered Rockwood thought-out the pandemic I have no reservations in recommending this establishment. Everything from the moment we were met by the welcoming Pauline at front of house to informative conversations about our food, has been of a very very high standard. 5 Starts in our terms.
The food has always been on point and of an exquisite delightful level (some food has not just melted in my mouth but melted my heart in admiration) Chef as I respectfully call him was always in control and if requested, always on hand to answer any of my inquisitive questions of how the food was prepared and what was entailed in his mindset to create such dishes.
Pauline, was always available to serve and help in a manor that was comforting and reassuring. She gave us the glow of being "HOME" and nothing was too much and the impression of "mi casa es tu casa" If we were to ask about future developments or new menus Pauline without hesitation had the answer immediately.
What more can one ask
Well we have asked and we are to be answered, Rockwood is developing and growing in its reputation and My wife and I await in anticipation to the warm homely welcome to the new approach and construction within the Bistro building itself.
I have to say that am totally baffled by a recent review and can only surmise that someone is rather jealous of Rockwood ongoing success and development. My wife and I will take that review with a pinch of seasoning salt as we encourage all must.
Chef & Pauline, we are so looking forward to when we return, keep up the fantastic standards, Service and supply of amazing...
Read moreFirst class food and service is what you experience at Rockwood Bistro. You could be walking into a restaurant in Belgium or Paris, it is so beautifully decorated. From the warm welcome we received off both Pauline and Lacey to the creative delicious food we ate, it was a memorable evening. We selected the Asian broth ( hot and piquant) and the scallops for a starter. Both delicious. The main dishes were duck, ( crispy with a sweet mulberry sauce) and Bala lamb which melted, it was so tender. These were creatively presented, with a selection of vegetables. Lacey and Pauline were professional, yet friendly and attentive throughout the whole meal. Any request was met with a helpful response. We chose the Chef’s assiette selection of deserts. A delightful plate of warm raspberry Bakewell tart, white chocolate hazelnut cheesecake and chocolate truffle. There is a large drinks menu to select from. The decor is a feast for the eyes, from the collection of glass cloches to the mirrors and art work, the design is considered. The food is creative and delicious prepared by a talented chef and with the service from Pauline, Rockwood Bistro is the place to dine. Thank you all for a...
