After winning a breakfast for two at The Coffee Roast at Vale House a few weeks ago, we visited this morning.
The rain didn't stop us, just made the lovely breakfast even more needed! The parking was easy enough, it wasn't busy in the cafe and we got seated by the window on a pre-booked table for 2.
Richie the owner came to speak to us, shaking hands with the lucky winner and explaining the changes in venues from Seaview originally to 2019 when he moved to Vale park, and also the changes in menu as they had to condense, as the location and weather can make the cafe busy serving up to 500 customers on a busy summer day.
We took a few pics while we waited but we were served promptly: flat white for me and oat flat white and orange juice for the misses.
We both went for a full English breakfast, I had to be awkward and asked for no beans or black pudding š, which were substituted for mushrooms and extra toast.
The toasts came already abundantly buttered and the breakfasts were succulent: the herby and garlic tomatoes and mushrooms were delicious, the 10 inch sausage was juicy and the addition of the Ulster fry was a nice surprise to go with the bacon. Hash brown was crispy and the fried egg just how it should be. Beans were served in a separate dish and everything on the plate married well together.
A very enjoyable experience and we most certainly will be back with our little one in the near future.
A big thank you to Richie and everybody at The Coffee Roast for making us feel very welcome. I had breakfast at 9.30 this morning and it's kept me...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreVale park is a really well maintained park with many different things to see. The cafe at one time under the old management also complemented the park very well. Well, not anymore. Now only one room with only a scattering of unclean tables, damaged chairs, and absolutely filthy floor and skirting trims, with walls bizarrely painted in black. Not a nice environment to sit. The girl on the till is also seems to be completely untrained and devoid of any service skills. We had the full cooked breakfast, which was uninspiring and does not include the British staple of black pudding. But with soggy mushroom quarters, single piece of bacon, a rather strange long thin sausage and one toast (no option of white or brown only white just given), and a fried egg (no option of poached or scrambled) whether the lack of option is down to training of the staff is unbeknown. Now the breakfast costs around Ā£10. And bizarrely does not include coffee or tea? Thatās another Ā£3.40 on top?? When that was brought to the table again without asking if milk or sugar was wanted, it was brought with grimace. We even had to ask her to clean the table as it was filthy from day before.
We used to live on the park for 10 years. And regularly used this cafe, and since moving house 5 years ago it was first time back.
Well never we will again to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreCalled in today during a walk along the prom. One person infront of me in queue. Two people waiting by the fence for their orders. I ordered a hot chocolate, nothing fancy a boring hot chocolate. I waited my turn whilst the people in front received their orders. The gentleman infront received his drinks and had to wait at least 5 mins for his 2 trays of chips. More time passed and I am getting annoyed as I had to pick my son up at 1.30 and also had to walk back to the car first. The young lad comes to the window with a tray of drinks an am hoping mine is on it, but no the 4 drinks were for the lady who ordered after me. I am now really annoyed and asked the lad where my drink was, he goes to check and his reply your next. Unfortunately waiting 15 mins for a hot chocolate when they are not busy is not acceptable I didn't wait for the drink as I now only have 10 mins to get to the car and drive to get son. Had they been more organised and served drinks as soon as they get orders and kept other drinks to go with food orders this would of been much better. I think you need to have a re think on the way you...
