Istanbul Restaurant — Restaurant in Wolverhampton

We booked with short notice for 9 of us to eat early on a Saturday evening. I should have taken a hint regarding the experience we were about to undergo when, to my question over the telephone: “are you able to accommodate 9 diners at around 6:30 this evening?” I was told “in future, give us 48 hours notice!” Erm… ok. But either you can accommodate us, or you can’t!

So, we were accommodated and from the outset the attitude of the front of house and waiting staff was just dismissive. We are used to eating out, we are a polite and friendly bunch but our attitude simply wasn’t reflected.

This was true of the entire staff with the exception of 1 female waitress (slightly older than the other young waiters and waitresses) who seemed to care a little more than the others! She was kind and dealt with us as we paid our bill.

Whilst ordering, we chose hummus starters and the cold mezze, only to have complimentary hummus and mezze dishes with flat bread brought to the table - which was absolutely lovely, but then it was repeated all over again - we didn’t know to query it until this ‘second round’ arrived, at which point our concerns were ignored with a dismissive “well, you’ve eaten it now and it was free anyway!” There was no acknowledgement of how ridiculous this was - we had never eaten at the venue before and a simple run down at the beginning would have worked - but of course, our order, and therefore our final bill, would have been slimmed down…

We made the massive faux-pas of misunderstanding the BYO drinks mentioned in several previous reviews as alcoholic, which we were quickly informed were not permitted which we graciously (and in a rather embarrassing moment) responded to by removing the alcohol from the table without question .. (idiots!!😖😖)

The food, in direct contrast to the attitude of the staff, was really good. The chefs were working extremely hard in the open kitchen and the presentation and quality was excellent (although we did notice some inconsistency in presentation between our tables and others which was disappointing also).

There was no complimentary Turkish tea at the end our meal which was offered to every other party.

The toilets were very shabby and dirty - cleaning product bottles scattered over the floor, extremely dirty floor, woodwork and decor in need of repair.

The entire restaurant floor was littered with serviettes when we entered through the fold st entrance which is off-putting.

So, in summary; great food, inconsistent presentation, unnecessarily dismissive attitude from waiting staff and badly presented fixtures and fittings including...

We saw this place the other night and thought we’d give it a go ….. We got there at 7:20 ish and were seated by the window with panoramic views of the busy stop and plywood boards !! Ha ha Anyway the menu is impressive as long as you’re not vegetarian in which case there’s two choices …. Veggie kebab or veggie bake with Italian cheese on top. We had a sharing Meze to start , it was ok , the bread was nice and as we were enjoying the starter THE MAIN COURSES turned up !! So the Veggie Kebab and Tracy’s Chicken thing arrived , it wasn’t a kebab at all it was grilled veg in a dish covered in a tomato sauce. Tracy’s chicken dish was just lots and lots of chicken with rice and salad …. We had ordered chips but they forgot and they arrived when we had finished the food and were just frozen chips cooked in old oil. All in all I’d have to say it’s like a Turkish takeaway with chairs….. don’t expect restaurant food or restaurant service either . They just can’t do any good because I will never go back or recommend it to anyone either, the young family who sat next to us started after us and finished before us , they also had all their food arrive in one go … It’s a shame because it’s a nice building and they obviously want to succeed but in these times you have to get it right or you fail . Oh and they don’t serve beer and you can’t take any in there either …. Bodrum Delight around the corner is...

Istambul Restaurant Wolverhampton:

Reservation made 4 days ago for 20 people, for today at 6:30. We were 18 people ,then 4 left, seeing how slowly the serving was going on.

We waited 2 hours until the first plate of food arrived. During this time, other tables served even if they arrived after us.

My  son waited another 30 minutes for the correct menu because he received something else. I couldn't even finish my meal seeing my boy longing for his plate . He received it just before we had to leave,so he had to eat in a rush.

After we finished eating, 2 people at our table  still hadn't received their food. When they got it, they ate in a rush as it was about 2,45 hours of waiting.

It was extremely frustrating, especially since we were going to make a 2-hour trip back home,so we didn't expect this delay.

They  hardly said sorry only after we went a few times on the front to ask what's going on.

I could see how disorganised they were, sending the girls to us with food which we didn't order, but the food ordered not coming for ages.

They didn't have the courtesy to compensate in any way the lack of care , my family of 4 was charged in full for the food.

It was such a  terrible experience for us. DON'T RECOMMEND...
