Amazing service, welcoming atmosphere and beautifully decorated. We got to choose what table we wanted to sit at. We were served poppadoms almost immediately. The poppadoms were fresh and the condiments were out of this world. The waiter described what ingredients were contained in the chutneys and they were beautifully flavoured and you can tell they were homemade. The waiter asked what we would like to drink so we chose a bottle of merlot. There was a good selection of wine on the menu. Whilst ordering our mains, the waiter was very helpful with assisting us on what to order for sides and told us he would bring a small selection. We ordered a fish dish, paneer mirch masala, lamb rogan josh and the award winning dish served on a bed of noodles. The food arrived and we really enjoyed our meal. The fish and the meat melted in your mouth. All dishes were bursting with flavour and were served with generous portions. The paneer was soft, succulent and flavourful. The waiter served us two rice which were beautifully flavoured. I don't normally eat rice but this dish was perfectly flavoured. We had two garlic and chilli naans which were beautiful, the bread was soft and cooked perfectly. They also served us a side of bombay potatoes which were very flavourful and complimented the other dishes, one of my favourite dishes of the night. After finishing our meals, the waiter took away our plates and the head chef came out to greet us. He seemed very lovely and pleasant with an array of knowledge about the food he cooks. We really enjoyed our experience at the bilash and definitely will be returning, I will also be recommending it to other people, thank...
Read moreThis review is based on a dinner visit made approximately 2005. A warning for those with preconceived notions - this is not an Indian serving food that is modified to suit the palates of Brits whose experience of Indian "cuisine" is limited to drunken takeouts ordered at half eleven at night. This is an upmarket, award-winning establishment that serves authentic Bangladeshi/Indian cuisine. When I visited this restaurant, main courses were between £20-£30 and therefore not necessarily somewhere one would visit regularly; however, I have reviewed the a la carte menu online today (24/2/17) and see that main course prices are around £15-£20, which is typical of most mid-range restaurants or chains. On my visit, the restaurant was almost empty, and I asked the chef to recommend a dish for me and enjoyed a delicious monkfish curry. I've since moved away from Wolverhampton but would like to go back to see if my experience is equally as good. Note: the restaurant's location can make lunchtime meals tricky because of parking prices/availability. Fortunately, in the evening this problem is lessened - when I visited, we parked right outside the restaurant as it was out of hours. Of course, this may...
Read moreBased on this place boasting of its Michelin standard food, AVOID. I don't think this place is even called the Bilash anymore it's just revelling off an old reputation of a Michelin starred restaurant. Service pleasant but poor. Was not given a choice of menus when we arrived,we were just handed the special offer menu. Poppadom's arrived with an onion salad that didn't seem freshly prepared (same sitting or day I would class as fresh) alond side a quad of dips again, not fresh. Starters same issue salads and food not fresh. Lettuce was wilting slightly. It tasted ok for a standard restaurant. Following Starters, the wife's knife was dirty from using it. But the waiter left on the table to be used on the main course... Didn't get fresh napkins (paper) either. Main course again, definitely not freshly prepared or cooked on that sitting. With all the faults, the food was decent but not worth a Michelin star or the money paid. I actually feel conned. The receipt had 'The khans' on it, which leads me to the initial statement I don't believe it's 'The...
