Where to begin, we arrived and placed our order and I present a “Waylands Yard” gift card for payment. This sent to assistant on the till into complete confusion which ended with all the credit that was on the card been deleted. A young lady (who seemed to be either a supervisor/manager)then came over to rectify the issue with the card but had to go and seek advice from another colleague somewhere and told me I would defiantly have my card back in ten minutes. We then sat down and waited around 10 minutes for our drinks, which tasted ok. The young lady returned and told me the issue on my card had been resolved and gave me my card back. After this a further 20 minutes passed with no sign of the food we had some 30 minutes prior. I asked where our order was and was told “ you should have had it by now”. A further 6 minutes later the food arrived. One meal was called “the fry up”, which we ordered with poached eggs, it arrived with fried eggs. The sausage was burnt, toast was cold, beans where tepid and the sweet potatoe hash browns where black. My meal was the brunch bap which arrived cold. We wanted to complain but decided not to do to the length of time it took to get our meal. When asked if we had enjoyed our meal I explained that the order was wrong and the food substandard. We was offer a free tea or coffee each, not the response I was expecting from the staff. This is my first and last experience of this establishment. I will not be recommending it to family or friends. If possible I would be interested in hearing the managements reply to the...
Read moreI've been going to WY since it opened and I've never had a bad meal or coffee from them. Robust menu, the food's uniformly tasty and with options to customise whatever you're having, nicely presented, and there are good vegetarian choices. The crumpets and granola bowl are big faves. Their rotating specialty coffee pick is always a nice surprise, and the standard drink options are solid. Also nice to have some non-caffeine drinks available. We usually end up spending £30-35 for two people.
The staff are very friendly, it's clean and in good nick, the decor inside is lovely (can't beat a raw plaster wall) and the garden area is really nice (swing seating and heaters!) The toilets are unisex which is a plus for me personally. In spring there are also a load of baby birds in the garden who love being thrown crumbs, which isn't something the cafe's doing on purpose but it's still a bonus.
The one note I'd make is that you can only order through a third party site/app if eating in, so you'll need to have a phone that can scan QR codes on hand, be connected to the internet, and be able to pay via card/paypal/etc online. They provide free wifi, so you won't have to use data, but the system is tricky to use if you're...
Read moreWe had the pleasure of visiting Wayland's Yard on a Saturday morning just after 9 AM. Luckily, we managed to snag a table without any hassle, but by the time we left at 10 AM, there was already a queue forming. It's clearly a popular spot, so arriving early is a smart move since they don't take reservations.
The location couldn't be more convenient, being just a stone's throw away from Forgate Street Station in Worcester. We decided to dine in and enjoy breakfast, opting for the Halloumi Fry Up and HashBrown Benedict, paired with coffee and fresh orange juices. The food was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented, making for a perfect start to our day.
The ambience at Wayland's Yard is simply delightful. The place has a warm, welcoming vibe that makes you feel right at home. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, which added to the overall positive experience.
One small suggestion for improvement would be the ordering process via the app. It asked for a tip and a review before we had even been served, which felt a bit premature.
Overall, Wayland's Yard is a fantastic spot for breakfast, and we highly recommend it! We can't wait to return for another...
