Unless you're being served freezer-burned shizzle or have people behind the counter literally throwing scoopers at you, it's hard to give an ice cream place a negative rating. That said, not only did that not happen at Sundaes, but it was honestly a perfect experience from beginning to end. If you can't think of a single piece of constructive feedback, you're pretty much good to go.
I stopped here with two chums and a young pup on Saturday afternoon, largely at the recommendation of one chum who's a local and has been a faithful customer for years. Even if you didn't know what to look for, it was pretty obvious this was the building Sundaes was housed in - it gives off massive old school Dairy Queen vibes. I love a business time capsule like this.
There was plenty of variety here, I'd say 25 or so flavors. We'd just been out to lunch at a place that didn't have a s'mores dessert from their menu available (devastating), so my palate was feeling something along those lines. I opted for a small cup of Milk and Cookies (scrumptious), which with tax came to a little over $5. Honestly? That's a pretty competitive price point for scooped ice cream in 2023, especially when you look at the mammoth portion (attached) that could be easily mistaken for a medium. My go-to ice cream place up in northern Jersey doesn't have a small size option, and their cheapest cup is $6 so I'll take this any day.
They also have benches outside to munch on your treats - THAT might be the only possible area for improvement. There may be limitations due to their location basically in the middle of a strip mall parking lot, but it would be nice to have some snazzier picnic table options available instead of the benches on the side that we sat at, but that's a pretty ridiculous nitpick; if you're coming to an ice cream place for the picnic tables I would calmly suggest that you reevaluate your priorities.
As the cherry on top, the girls behind the counter were very nice and hard-working. As a geriatric Oregon Trail millennial I'm always on the lookout for that younger demographic to be on their phones, especially if they technically have a free moment or two. Nope - they were all proactive, looking to serve available customers.
Delicious ice cream that hit the spot, and pleasant employees. I had zero qualms about utilizing their very nicely-themed tip jar, which included references to the colleges they're presumably attending in the fall. Love that approach. Good luck at West Virginia - go...
Read moreI want to start out by saying, I love you guys and have never had an issue at ANY Sundaes location. This is a staple in my wife's family and I have since made it a staple in mine. However, I called in an order today that I always call in: two pints, one strawberry cheesecake and one pb cherry vanilla, flavors down the middle. Immediately when ordering this, the girl over the phone (who I'm assuming is the manager) became hostile. She had no interest in giving me what I had asked for from the beginning, complaining that they don't do that on pints but she'll try. Again, this is something I literally always order, especially ever since quarantine started. Then, continuing with her attitude, she tells me to give her 45 mins-1 hour for the order! I was taken aback: for ice cream? And nothing too crazy. I said to her, that long? She proceeded to lie to me that there's a line outside and it's very busy. While I understand a lot of orders may be coming in for 4th of July, I knew for a fact that it wasn't busy outside as I had just passed by merely minutes before. I even have a pic below showing how "busy" they were minutes after my call. She became even more hostile and began yelling at me. Not something I wanted to deal with over ice cream. Frustrated and upset, I hung up. She called back, still with an attitude to confirm if I wanted the order. I told her I'd get my ice cream elsewhere, thanks. She said, "Good! We don't need you!" Wow! That's a harsh thing to say to a customer over the phone. I work in customer service. If I said that to a customer, I'd be fired on the spot. However, regardless of the way she acted, I love your ice cream and will continue to come back. But, I wanted all to be aware of this issue. If you'd like to reach out to rectify, I have no problem removing...
Read moreI cannot say enough great things about Christina and her team! My family is all Gluten Free (except for me) and for the last few birthdays, I have been ordering specialty cakes from Sundaes without the 'birthday cake' filling. Instead we have used an assortment of their delicious flavors that contain no cake or cookie bits. The Peanut Butter Overload is far and above our favorite. Christina has been extremely helpful and friendly during the ordering process, making sure the flavors I ordered were safe for my family. She even went out of her way to get me cake on short notice during one of the hottest days of the spring! So you know they were busy. The first cake I ordered from them for Valentines Day, I was able to supply my own GF Oreos (which had just been released) and they used those in place of the standard crunchies. It was amazing! Since then, we have not gone anywhere else for our cakes. I don't expect we will...
