I've been in here a few times now, trying all that they have to offer. I feel bad for my brother because he lived next to this store like I am now, but never tried the donuts here. I'll update review with how he likes the donuts too (which I know he will love because we grew up with Krispy Kreme, and continue reading for my thoughts)
Normally I can eat a "standard" donut (glazed, maple, chocolate) and be fine, but when it comes to anything else, it makes me feel very sick after only a couple of bites. Not here. Their fritter is amazing and I can eat two whole ones without feeling sick, and the cinnamon roll is now a tie for fritter as my favorite item at a donut shop. I have always loved fritters, but hated how I couldn't eat a whole one without feeling sick. Now I can enjoy them without any worry.
Everything here tastes wonderful and not insanely sugary or fake like Dunkin or any chain donut shop, minus Krispy Kreme. The staff are also extremely friendly and out of respect they asked if my dog could have a donut hole, to which I politely said no as my dog is not allowed to eat human food as per training. The lady was super cool and we laughed over various funny things while she got my items.
Every donut shop I've been to until this one tasted overly sugary or "fake". Krispy Kreme is what I grew up with, but I can easily put it in second place behind Granny's Donuts. That's a HUGE deal as before Granny's, the only donuts I'd willingly eat was Krispy Kreme.
You want great tasting donuts that won't break the bank, and not taste fake or overly sugary, then this is the place to go. The staff is amazing, super friendly, and very respectful.
The store itself is very clean and very homey feeling. I can't help but feel comfortable and relaxed here even when it's bust. I normally don't smile, but I have a smile whenever I'm here.
They only have like 3 people that you see working each day I've been there, and they are doing their best with what they have while keeping smiles on faces. The Marine Corps would be proud of them, and I definitely am. If they run out of supplies to make donuts, they will close early, and that's completely understandable as not everyone is eating donuts nowadays, let alone going to a local shop. Instead people go to Dunkin, which is the worst choice you can make.
If you call ahead and make an order in advance for a specific day, you will get exactly what you want as they will have made the purchase of supplies to ensure they can have your order ready, along with what they have estimated they need for the day to make what they need to get by. They specifically state on their website that if you want to ensure they have what you want, call in an order the day before. They give you all the information on when they may close early, and why. They are minimizing waste and monetary loss, which is the smartest thing anyone could do and clearly it works, so if you don't bother understanding that, don't write a negative review because they don't have what you want when you randomly show up, or they're closed when you randomly decide to show up because they ran out of supplies. If you had made an order the day before, or called ahead, you wouldn't be disappointed after a long drive. So disregard all reviews talking about being closed "early", or not having a wide selection at a later...
Read moreRandomly drove by here today, had to make a stop I love a good bakery and donut it’s been one of my cravings this pregnancy. I got to meet one of the owners she was so Sweet and helpful, they are a lil pricey for a half dozen but I guess that’s this day and age. I got an apple fritter and a half a dozen one strawberry with a smiley face, one chocolate with a smiley face for my kids and red velvet, strawberry, old-fashioned, and raspberry and strawberry filled. The apple fritter is the size of my head. It was crispy and chewy only bad thing I could say I wish I had more apples. The raspberry donut was filled so voluptuously, but the strawberry did not have a lot of filling. The strawberry cake donut kind of taste a little artificial I think if they use freeze dried strawberries that would fix that taste overall they’re good quality mom and Pop donut shop that you don’t see too often. If I come in the area again I’ll...
Read moreJust recently learned about Granny's old fashioned donuts when I was getting my car maintenance done in Pinehurst. I had an early morning appointment and the dealer was nice enough to have coffee and donuts. I was hungry and really wanted a cup of coffee so I took a donut along with my coffee. It was the best donut I have ever had. It was so good I had to actually ask them where they get these Donuts because they was so yellow in color and light and sweet. That was the first time that I heard about Granny's old fashioned donuts. I have since learned they only make so many donuts a day and when they are going they close. So if you want those donuts you better get there early because I got that one day at 12 and they were already closed. I wish they would make more and be open a little later since it is quite a ride for me to go get the donuts but...
