I should preface this review by stating I’ve been a happy customer at Olive Tree Aberdeen for over a decade. Today’s experience however was against what I’ve known this location to be and bordered on absolutely ridiculous so here we go. I made a pick up order via the Olive Tree Aberdeen website. I ordered my fave, Chicken Parmesan on Fettucine and added some fries and a chocolate cake. I went to the pick up area and no one was at the desk. I waited and ended up having to knock hard on the counter until someone came and helped. Please note, right in front of the customer is a box requesting tips. As I completed my card payment there again was a tip request, this time on the payout screen. The food was handed to me with no utensils although the request for utensils was clearly on the receipt. I checked the bag everything else appeared to be there and I was off to my reservations at a winery with my husband. After I arrived to the winery, unloaded my vehicle, stood in line, sat, bought and opened my wine, I was shocked to find no fettuccine. I rechecked my receipt and it had listed clear as day, fettuccine. Who knew I should have verified fettuccine was sitting under the marinara and chicken! I called Olive Tree and was put on hold for the manager. When I relayed what happened to the manager, she stated “this keeps happening on the website and they’ve been trying to get it fixed”. “Customers should only have 1 side to pick but the site lets them pick 2 so the kitchen simply makes the 1st option the customer picks”. I was shocked by the managers response. As I told the manager,,, this is a known issue but no safe guard was put in place for the customer. I gave her the suggestion of calling the customer once they receive the order or having the counter person inform the customer at arrival so the customer can make a decision on which side they would like. The manager seemed to have no sense of concern in her response. She offered that I return to the restaurant for the fettuccine but “ I must be sure to bring the fries so the kitchen can see I didn’t eat them”. I was yet again shocked. I’m at my destination, ready to enjoy my dinner, wine and scenery with my husband and you offer me hot pasta with what now would be cold chicken and to “make sure” I bring the “uneaten” fries. Listen, I’m not trying to have free dang fries. Frankly I just checked the box when I picked it. But for you to seemingly care more about fries (which we only ate a couple) then the satisfaction of a customer,,,even after suggestions were offered is ridiculous and against what I’ve known Olive Tree Aberdeen to be for the 10+ years I’ve patroned their restaurant. Truly disappointing. I told her by the time I went back and returned, the winery would be closed. Her option was then to come back another day and they would give me the pasta,,,she literally asked again to “bring the fries”. I can’t with this manager! At this point it became more than simply missing fettuccine (we by this time decided to make the best of it and seriously,,,it’s just pasta) It came down to a manger with a fast food restaurant mentality,,,yet the prices at Olive Tree and the many points of tip requests are certainly not. The manager cared more about fries then she did about the customer. I will certainly return later in the week with days old fries along with my receipt. It is my hope the manager on duty that day is a bit more aligned with the customer service values I’ve been familiar with at Olive Tree Aberdeen. The TIP I offer is to lean in to the care and concerns of...
Read moreMy self and my husband order carry out and eat at the restaurant regularly. This evening I called in an order for pickup. A seafood fettuccine for my husband and a crab and shrimp penne with a garlic white wine butter sauce. I specifically asked the young lady who took my order to ensure this was not a cream sauce. I have dairy allergy. She told me no worries that was not a problem. I did not expect an issue as I order this dish regularly. My husband returned home in Abingdon after paying 75.04 including a tip for a carry out order only to find that my dinner did indeed have a cream sauce. I immediately called as this was very frustrating! The young lady who answered the phone very apologetic however now is telling me there is no modification to this item. Something I know to be false. Again this is a dish I order regularly. Your manager Erin called me back only to be rude, condescending and un-empathetic with no regard for our time, energy and money spent. Forget the fact that now we need to bring the wrong dish back to Aberdeen which will take additional time and gas but for my trouble no accommodation offered. When asked what would be done to compensate I received a smug response of “ well I can give you a dessert” was not only insulting but offensive. I did not order a desert, I wanted the dish I ordered made correctly so that I might have a dinner this evening. I told her that would not suffice. I want a refund of the order that was incorrect. I don’t think that was unreasonable considering the error was theirs. I did not ask for the entire bill to be refunded. My husband had his dish and enjoyed it. However it will be an hour before I receive my dinner and honestly after dealing with the unprofessional and rude attitude of your manager, I don’t particularly want or trust the food she sends back! Our time and energy as well as gas should be respected and taken in account. When I asked for the corporate phone number I was told there is no number to call and speak with anyone other than her. I well know that there is someone to answer to, Erin must report to someone. I was given a false email address and when I called again to get correct contact information the manager Erin hung up on me. My husband returned with the dish and 2 .5 hours later I would rather not eat it. Your manager on duty this evening is rude, unprofessional and there is a clear opportunity for some coaching on how to speak with your customers. We have been patrons for over 10 years however after this experience with Erin we will not be back to this Olive tree. Erin however, did not care that faithful customers are lost. It’s sad that we are treated with such disregard. I would like to speak with someone further and find a resolution for this...
Read moreAfter years of having dinner there that was about average, but usually good service and a nice wait staff. Tonight i went there with a friend for dinner got the chicken and veal picatta with less then average service by “tristan” our meals came out…(keep in mind this is a white wine sauce.and capers no starch) we were brought out chicken and veal marsalla. So they were like well it is chicken and veal. And were like yea but thats not close to white wine sauce. Because it’s obviously brown. And they went back to the kitchen and came out with brown white wine sauce and said cheerfully here you go. And im like yea this is still chicken marsalla because its obviously still brown so I tell him take it away Tristan gave me a serious attitude. After he is lying to my face. They literally washed the meat in a basket and threw some white wine on it but it was still brown because Marsala stains the meat. Ive worked for a lot of restaurants building remodeling etc.
I know what they do at low end restaurants, then errin comes out and smugly scowels at me and asks if there is anything wrong. She wasn’t polite or courteous in the slightest and in fact rude. With a nasty facial expression and i was like yea theres still a meal on the check were not eating. And i corrected her and said she didn't introduce herself or ask in a genuine way what the issue was or how to resolve it. And then came back and comped me a millionaire many times over a basket of breadsticks and a drink more cranberry then cranberry and vodka. And said she wanted us to leave “immediately” as if, some fault lies with me for a liar who carelessly tampered with my food. (Shuddering in disgust)
These days trust is at a premium, once someone is dishonest, do you , can you trust them with your food????dont bother to ask this review to be altered I NEVER WILL. EVERY WORD HEREIN IS THE ABSOLUTE TRUTH.
Edit/rebuttal Anyone can see the manner in which they responded to to my accurate account. Of went on in their establishment. They want to make ad hominem attacks at a dissatisfied customer, if you were wondering what i i said , i introduced myself and you will see my name on a tower crane visible from your nasty greasy spoon. It wouldn't take a crane to level that restaurant, only one trip by the health inspector. Please enjoy...
