First impressions: -I would avoid trying to park in the lot. Spots aren't marked well and there is no way to exit out the back if another car pulls in behind you. -The building is pretty run down and does not have any seating for those waiting for a table aside from a bench outside of the double doors in front of the restaurant. -The decor is dated and the walls and floor are old enough that I don't think any amount of scrubbing would make them appear clean.

The experience: -We arrived around 10:50 and waited about 10 minutes for a table. The restaurant was full, but what I would expect for a Sunday morning. -As us and another couple huddled near the "wait to be seated" sign, an employee urged a table packing up their food to "take their time and not rush" -Our drink order was taken within a few minutes of being seated. Our waitress waited quite awhile to come back and take our food order. -Our drinks were refilled one time (two Diet Pepsis) and the waitress also picked up a tea at the table next to us for a refill. We watched her smell the cups to see what was inside at the fill station. I am not sure that my husband and I got the correct drinks back. -I ordered the breakfast skillet and my husband ordered the all American breakfast and a half order of biscuits and gravy. It took over 45 minutes to get our food (and five additional minutes to get our toast). -After bringing our food our waitress never came back. And it took ten minutes for another waitress to bring us our ticket after we were done eating. -As we were leaving we walked passed an employee smoking a cigarette right outside the entrance.

The food: -My skillet was great. Everything was pretty simple breakfast food which is what I was expecting. -My husbands food was completely cold. -Biscuits and gravy were good.

Overall impression: Our total bill was around $32 which is average for the area. Joe Snuffy's is a dingy and outdated place with subpar service to get decent food if you have time to wait and don't come in starving. If you are driving through the area I would head up to IHOP in JC for much faster service at the same price and quality. If you want more breakfast options and a more "brunch" experience, head to any breakfast restaurant in Manhattan. Even with the drive you will get your food faster than we did. We were hoping to find a regular breakfast place close to home but unfortunately this...

I've been to Snuffys numerous times in the past and I must be the exception because I find the food to be of poor quality, greasy and tasteless., no matter if it's breakfast, lunch or dinner, it's all the same. However, there's always a crowd for breakfast, mostly elderly and some locals and my guess would be that they just don't know anything better to compare their experience to. Abilene has very few choices for sit down dining at any meal. My recommendation would be, if you are looking for a good place to eat, unless you are desperate or starving, DON'T STOP HERE or bother with Snuffys. Keep going and find a much better place to eat in Salina or Junction City. I promise you, your eating experience will be SO MUCH BETTER, your taste buds and stomach...

Ok so we heard amazing things when we moved to abilene so we decided to give it a try, bad idea. We were not greeted when we walked in because two servers were on their phones at the bar. Then we ordered. Granted there was a mainly older crowd we did not feel welcome, one patron literally turned around 180 in his chair to stare at us. Then a table that ordered about 10 minutes after us were served their salad first. My husband got the popcorn shrimp with mozzarella sticks and macaroni and cheese. ALL OF IT WAS STORE BOUGHT!!!! None of it was homemade!!! And he didn't receive his dinner roll until moments before we got the bill!!!! My rueben was alright but the coleslaw was nasty. I would NEVER recommend!!! Go to tossed and sauced or Mr.K's. Don't...

My wife and I went for the first time recently, despite living in the area for a while. Overall a good experience - Service was great and except for my hashbrowns (kinda cold and chewy) the food was also good. My wife really enjoyed the pork tenderloin sandwich and my western omelette was fresh and tasty. They were quite busy when we were there but our server was on top of it and very attentive. UPDATE 5/2023 - Still solid service and food was great. My pancakes were huge and really tasty.

Just what we needed! My boyfriend and I were on a long road trip from Richmond to Denver, and Joe Snuffy’s saved us. We needed breakfast and we needed it fast. A lovely quaint hometown feel with good people and fresh food. Even more surprising they had gluten-free toast! This is exactly what you’re looking for on your road trip. Best small town in Kansas maybe even in America. Fact: Abilene KS is the birthplace of Dwight D Eisenhower and will not disappoint.
