My wife and I were in Bristol getting me tires and happened to see a billboard for Fiddler's just before exiting. I have never heard of Fiddler's so I asked my wife to check it's rating. Normally if we saw a 3. 7 rating, we would look for somewhere else to eat. However, she decided to read some of the more recent reviews and they were very positive.

After getting the tires, we drove up to Abingdon to give Fiddler's a try. The restaurant is in a nice building that looks kept up pretty well. When we walked in, it was nicely decorated and clean. After the hostess sat us, our waitress was there immediately to take our order. Since we have been on a comfort food kick off late, we opted for the buffet.

So I won't go through all the offerings, but the food was amazing! And the price for the buffet was even more amazing. The fried chicken and fried catfish were easily in my top three ever and I'm nearly 60 years old so that's a lot to compare to. I don't remember a single item I didn't enjoy and that's after three plates full of food. My wife who isn't a big buffet person even had three trips herself.

Fiddler's did NOT deserve the rating it has and after asking the waitress why, her explanation shows that there are too many people out there who don't understand the concept of giving honest reviews. My wife and I highly recommend this restaurant. The service is wonderful, the food is great. But when I can have this much quality food for the price of a fast food hamburger meal, I will make the drive from Greeneville Tennessee every...

We were hesitant about eating here because of the bad reviews but decided to give it a chance. We decided not to complain about anything while there just to see if things were as bad as indicated in the reviews. We were seated quickly, in a booth in a back corner where I got to watch the workers wrapping silverware the whole time. The person who seated us then went to the kitchen door and yelled "Crystal, you got a table!" Crystal was very sweet but seemed a bit overwhelmed. I ordered ice water with lemon, received water with no lemon. My partner ordered the codfish dinner with salad bar and onion rings (you get five whole onion rings). It looked good and he said it was tasty. I ordered chicken tenders with collard greens and baked mac and cheese. The chicken tender looked like the kind you get in a bag at the grocery store and were very dry. I had to put barbecue sauce on them to make them edible. The greens has no seasoning except for a very faint taste of vinegar. The mac and cheese was very bland, the kind we were taught to make in junior high home-ec class with that white sauce in the macaroni and a little cheese melted on top. I was extremely disappointed but did bring the greens and some of the chicken home to try to salvage it for another meal because I hate to waste food. I cannot recommend this place at this time. We might give it another try if the...

We were excited to try a new place... But I was very disappointed. The server was a sweetheart... But the food was awful I didn't even get half way into my meal when I just couldn't anymore My entire plate was cold...I ordered hamburger steak with onions and for sides I asked for Mac n cheese and cowboy beans.... The Mac n cheese was dry and cold.... The cowboy beans were cold and just not like any other cowboy beans I'd ever had before.. And I don't mean that in a good way.. And the hamburger steak had absolutely ZERO seasoning....it was literally just a hamburger patty with grilled onions atop it.... And that's it.

My husband got meatloaf with a loaded baked potato and Cole slaw as his sides he said his was ok but nothing to get excited about. And the prices are way too high for the quality of their food. We spent $43 plus tip for 2 of us.

We did enjoy the cup of potato soup we shared before or meals arrived....on the plus side.

It wasn't long after we ate that we both began not feeling so well....and it's carried over into today too.... Not sure if it was the food or a stomach bug....

Either way.... I have to say we won't be visiting this...

I despise writing a review like this, but I must. This Fiddlers, formally Shoneys, is a hit or miss if you order from the menu. I would recommend anyone who likes what they see on the buffet bar to go with that. Don't take the lottery risk of getting something from the menu. My partner and I ordered from the menu and I got the pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw and my partner got the grilled chicken with bake potato. My pulled pork was as dry and tough as the Sahara desert. How on Earth could this sandwich be inspected and cooked by the "chef" and say this is good, and how could the waitress be ok with putting it on their customer's plate? LOOK AT THE PICTURES The coleslaw was flavorless and not worth chewing and the bake potato was hard. We didn't complain there because we are not that kind of people. The waitress and staff are sweet as they can possibly be but this eventually falls under the manager. If you are reading this review please take notice of what your cook is serving to your customers. You dont want what happened to Shoneys happen to Fiddlers.

I had mixed reservations about this place based on comments from others. I figured we had to check it out for ourselves. We were greeted at the door by the beautiful smile from Teresa who quickly seated us. Then we were greeted by our waitress Betsy. Now mind you, I had gastric bypass 3 years ago , so there is not much I can eat so, I didnt want to order from the buffet. Betsy insured me that due to my gastric bypass, that I would not have to pay full price and I should never have to. She was completely understanding and even congratulated me on my accomplishment of losing 200lbs. Overall, my husband and I were pleasantly pleased with the service, food and atmosphere of Fiddlers. We will definitely be coming back!!!
