Look at the Health Inspection Score. If you are not familiar with how restaurants are scored you may want to read up on this. I will not eat here until their health inspection report is improved and the quality of the food goes back to what it used to be.
The "owner's response to the Google reviews" appear to be an automated response. Fake and all say the same. Customers spend time writing reviews and they can't take time to respond without a generic copy/paste message!!!
My mom owned 2 restaurant's when I was growing up and for the health score to be as low as this Captain D's that means there are several items needing to be addressed.
For this particular new location in Acworth I was really in a shock. It's really insane how they could have such a low health inspection score and such slow service after only being open less than 2 years.
If it's this poor after 18 months of being open, I can't imagine how bad it will be in the next several years!!! Captain D's is NOT the same quality food as it was years ago. Such a shame too! The food is completely different now and it's not better than Long John Silver or any fast food place anymore like it used to be.
I worked for 2 Captain D's locations in Atlanta a lifetime ago in the late 1980's early 90's. I was offered to manage my own store several times after I left but declined because I had gotten out of the restaurant business. I was still dedicated though to Captain D's and always recommended them until now.
Back in the good old days the coleslaw, hushpuppies and country style fish was made by hand and fish inspected carefully every morning. The fish was not greasy and the tarter sauce was so good. Oh the good old days... :-)
When I visited the Marietta and Cumming Captain D's stores in 2007 to 2012 I ran into the same people I worked with back in the 80's! I would always brag to everyone about how good the quality of the food was and how dedicated the employees were in cleaning the restaurants. We had to "stock & shine" every day and always greet the customers when they walked in or left the restaurant. I bet the employees that work there have no idea what I'm talking about. I picked up some of my good cleaning habits from working there that I still haven't forgotten in over 30 years. Anyway....that's enough of me going down memory lane ♡
This Acworth, GA Captain D's and the entire Captain D's organization needs to get their act together or shut down already and open up with a new name.
Bring back the same quality fish, food and customer service you had back in the 70's 80's 90's and...
Read moreThis is their newest and worse Captain D’s franchise in the area I have ever had an experience with EVER. The little high school girl last night who took my order entered it incorrectly even after telling her and she looking at the picture and description on the wall I referenced. When I caught it, I went to the counter, explained what happened to the owner who was standing there and asked him what I could do to make it right. I was even willing to pay for the missing item, which was simply popcorn shrimp. He said not to worry he would make it up and I witnessed him ask the kitchen for an order of popcorn shrimp. 10 minutes later, no popcorn shrimp and he walked out the door. Another 20 minutes goes by, the girl who entered my order wrong is running around trying to clean things and I politely asked her again about the popcorn shrimp. I can literally see the box under the heat light but she doesn’t check. She goes behind the door into the kitchen, I hear her make a remark about me asking and comes back out and goes back to cleaning. Another 10 minutes goes by I ask her again while she’s still cleaning and she just says sorry they’re running slow and it’ll be out soon. The box is still sitting there. So I get up since she doesn’t want to check and catch the manager and ask her. She says she’ll make it right. Now at 40 minutes and making my forth inquiry, a different girl is called to where the kitchen sends the food out, looks in the box, sees what it is and asks the same girl I’ve been dealing with who the popcorn shrimp is for while she’s trying to leave and tells her it’s for “some guy in the dining room” and leaves! Didn’t even take the time to point at me sitting 10 feet from them in plain view and can hear them. So what happened? I told the lady they were for mr and after 45 minutes I get COLD RUBBERY POPCORN SHRIMP. All while this is going on a guy comes out and offers the couple sitting in the corner who hadn’t even waited 10 minutes for their food free desert and the lady waiting for 20 minutes three orders of cracklings absolutely nothing! Hopefully she enters a complaint as well! Too bad the owner obviously didn’t care enough to stick around to keep his staff on point...

Read moreMy mom and I had never been to a Captain D’s before tonight and we were absolutely exhausted after spending the last couple weeks moving and trying to get the old house ready to sell (a 4-hour commute almost every day for the last two weeks on top of all the house prep work), so when we finally got home, we decided to go pick up some food at a place that had a drive-thru so we didn’t have to get out of the car (did I mention we were dead tired and just wanted to eat and go to bed!).
We decided to try Captain D’s so we ordered online ahead of time and drove through the drive-thru to pick it up (which has never been a problem ANYWHERE). The woman behind the speaker (who we could barely hear) told us we had to come in to get it. So aggravating. We dutifully parked and went in and she was so busy getting herself some food that she wouldn’t even acknowledge us. The man behind the cash register refused to acknowledge us as well (BTW, there were no other customers in the store that we could see so it’s not like they were too busy to help us). He just kept his headset on (we assumed he was on the phone) and stared off just to the side of us deliberately avoiding eye contact and basically pretended we weren’t there.
After 4-5 minutes of us getting more and more irritated since nobody would help us and our order was clearly visible behind the man, my mom finally asked if she could go behind the counter and pick it up herself. Then he responded that he had been wondering if we were going to say anything. Seriously?!?! He was so clearly deliberately ignoring us and half decent customer service dictates that the cashier should at least ask if they can help you so you know they’re available to take orders. I don’t know if the workers there are always that rude or if they just chose to be rude to us but suffice it to say, we will NEVER be back. And to top it off, the food was just mediocre. Thanks, Acworth Captain D’s for making a brutal couple weeks that much...
