Bottom Line: I would recommend this restaurant. Quick service and I enjoyed my food. I wish I could give them a 3.5, but I’ll round up since I can’t.
Atmosphere: I’ve never been to Louisiana so I don’t know what it’s like there. If you’ve ever been to Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.(I went to the one in downtown Denver, CO), very much the same vibe. Low-light ambience, tables reasonably spaced apart, Mardi Gras Beads hanging throughout the restaurant for the taking. It can be a but noisy between booths as there is little space between your bench and the bench of another table behind you.
Food: The cornbread was very tasty. I believe it was complimentary (like bread and butter at an Outback Steakhouse). It was served chilled, but I think I would have enjoyed it more if it were served warm.
The $10.95 Citrus Chili Calamari was interesting. While it wasn’t soggy, I expected it to be more crispy. That was a negative for me. The sauce was an unusual sauce, but I enjoyed it. I usually have calamari with some sort of marinara sauce, but this one almost reminded me of Vietnamese style fish sauce which I actually thought went very well with the dish. One small thing, I’d like to be served a thicker lemon wedge with the calamari in the future(almost a quarter). It makes it easier to add that extra citrusy taste without getting my fingers completely drenched in lemon juice.
My side Caesar Salad wasn’t the best I’ve had. Not the worst either, but it was nothing special. They could have added some more croutons (which weren’t very well seasoned), and the greens didn’t seem the most fresh.
I got the $21.90 Louisiana Ooh La La which includes shrimp, oysters, and crawfish with XX Sriracha level spice. Any “extra spicy” ordered for that dish is now served as an add-on sauce in a side dish. They started doing this apparently because people kept ordering hotter than they could take and sending their dishes back to the kitchen which was accumulated in a more than ideal food waste. While I completely understand this logic, it did take away from my “relaxing” experience of not having to mix this into my meal myself on a small plate without making a mess. On that note, I thought the dish was smaller than what it was worth according the the menu price. I have a personal preference against the battered taste of the seafood in this dish, but I’m sure you could request the meat to be grilled without batter rather than fried. My last grievance with this dish was that it was more warm than hot when it arrived. Apart from all that, the sauce used in this dish is stellar. Great flavor.
Service: There wasn’t much to say about the service other than the my food not feeling “fresh off the stove”. Out waitress was kind and brought us everything we requested in a reasonable time.
Overall: I would recommend it. Do I think this restaurant is overhyped? Yes, but I do think it is somewhat above average which is still a good rating to me. I don’t think my dish was worth more than $20, but the flavor was great and they have cheaper options for the same dish such as the $15.99 Chicken Ooh La La dish. If I return, I think I’d be happy with that dish. Service was good, and I also like how receptive the owner/management is on the reviews. It shows that they care about their customers’...
Read moreThis was our first time here. The staff was friendly when we came in. We were told the upstairs section had seating by the windows so we chose to go to the upstairs section. So you have to go outside then go back in through another door that leads upstairs. Once upstairs another hostess took over. There were two of us, and she led us to a small table that was against a brick wall.(no window) We noticed several seats near window and asked if we could be seated at one of those seats instead. The hostess immediately said "well I don't think so, we have a lot of large parties coming in." Mind you this was a small four top and there were two of us. She called in checked with some one who apparently said it is no big deal. So we sat down by the window. Another couple came in and were sat at that small table against the wall. Another couple came in after them, and were seated at a four top window table. My point is what was the issue when we came I of you were going to seat 2 people at other four tops. She wasn't very friendly. Now to the food. The menu seemed interesting, but I kept it simple since I am in a quest for the best po boy sandwich. My wife had the fried seafood platter half portion. My shrimp and oyster poboy had decent flavor but the consistency and or texture left a lot to be desired. I added a little cocktail sauce and the fried shrimp and oyster got very mushy. The bread was so so, and the presentation was lack luster. Just one tomato on one side of the sandwich. Maybe the sauce they use should be put on the bread rather than on the seafood. Just a thought. My wife felt the fried seadood platter was average at best, and I agree. It came with fries, shrimp, oysters and 1 small piece of catfish, and I do mean small. The grits that came as a side were okay. Our server Nikki was awesome. She had a great personality and was very attentive. She did make recommendations as well which we will try if we come back. I would say give it a try and pick something other than the...
Read moreWe’ve been coming here for the past three years for crawfish. They send out emails once the season begins. The crawfish boil is served one night per week until the season ends.
The price per pound is high. This year (2025) it was $15.99 per pound or $49 for 5 pounds. It is worth every penny! ALL the crawfish are huge and freshly cooked. I’m sure they are paying premium price to ensure all their crawfish are large. When you order 5 lbs, they give you the option of getting all 5lbs at once or 2.5 lbs at a time. The latter option ensures your crawfish are piping hot when you’re ready for them. The cook on the crawfish is perfect. With that said, I am NOT, I repeat, I am NOT from New Orleans. I have had Crawfish while in NOLA where the creole seasoning made my lips, fingers and eyes burn. If you’re looking to have your tastebuds annihilated, Henry’s Crawfish boil is not for you. Henry’s Crawfish seasoning does not come close to that. The seasoning is there. Could they stand to crank it up a tad bit, yes. Am I complaining, NOPE. If you’re looking to enjoy some huge, fresh, hot, and juicy flavorful crawfish, then Henry’s is by far the best spot, I’ve found in the metro Atlanta area. I’ve had some nightmare crawfish experiences in the metro area. I’m glad we found Henry’s. Another thing I love is that they are consistent with the quality of their crawfish. Every batch is delicious and full of huge crawfish.
Other Henry’s menu items that we have enjoyed-Shrimp and Grits and ooh la la are both really good. The gumbo was ok. The bread pudding-NOPE. I don’t know what was going on with the bread pudding I was served.
I highly suggest making reservations because the wait can be long, especially if they aren’t seating on the second floor. Street parking is free but you can find yourself circling waiting for a spot to become vacant.
The restaurant itself is nothing fancy. It’s clean and lively. Staff is always friendly and attentive. I highly recommend you...
