My absolute favorite meal of the day was coffee with a side of breakfast. The key word in my previous statement is, was. Sunrose has single handedly shifted my perspective. Shifts in perspective, are an incredible gift. I'm not going to spend much time on coffee here. There's too much to say about the food. It is, in a word, outstanding. I recently went with some friends to check Sunrose out. I have been hearing way too much about it not to. We, between us, ordered steak and eggs, the egg white and squash blossom omelette, and a Dutch baby. Along with some blueberry muffins all around. I'm going to start with the muffins. They're beautiful. The berries to muffin ratio is spot on, leaning heavily on the blueberry side. It's perfect. Full of fresh berries and flavor. The pop of lemon is a wonderful, unexpected touch that complements the blueberries delicately. The steak and eggs are incredible. A beautiful portion of hanger steak, perfectly seasoned, paired with a couple of eggs and potatoes. There's a lot to be said about how simplicity pairs well with beauty. This dish is simply beautiful. I'm going to take a second to talk about the potatoes. They're wonderful little baby potatoes that are still whole, very slightly smashed, and grilled crispy. They completely changed the way I think about breakfast potatoes. They're not pre-packaged frozen potatoes that I tend to find at lesser establishments. Please try them. They're awesome. We also had a Dutch baby. To refer to it as a simple pancake would be an insult to the dish. I've never had anything like it. It's just a beautiful piece of art that happens to be displayed in a cast iron skillet. It's definitely an experience that you need to try for yourself. It has the ability, on its own, to completely change the way you look at breakfast. This is a must try dish. Finally, there was the egg white omelette with roasted squash, squash blossoms, and goat cheese with herbs. It's the most beautiful omelette I've ever been served. Seriously, it's beautiful. The taste is very gentle. Not overpowered by the goat cheese, just beautifully balanced. The fresh herbs are lovely. I would recommend this dish based on it's appearance alone. It's stunning. I would absolutely recommend Sunrose to anyone with an appreciation for taste. Take your time. Make sure that you take a bit to appreciate the beauty being served. It's a bright place with an ability to conjure up memories of other happy times sharing meals with loved ones. You owe it to yourself to try it at least once. It's wonderful. The coffee is pretty...
Read moreWe visited Sunrose for the first time on a Sunday morning during brunch prime time so it was pretty busy. We had a reservation so we didn’t have to wait which was great.
The hostess brought us to our table and the table hadn’t been cleaned yet, so we were left there waiting in the dining area for a bit until someone came to wipe it off. It was awkward standing around other people’s tables.
A server arrived within a reasonable time after we were seated to give us menus and take our drink order. Our coffees came after about 10 mins but they were put into regular drinking glasses so we couldn’t drink them until they cooled down. Way too hot to touch. We overheard the table behind us say the same thing. The gentleman that brought them to us even mentioned they were too hot. I don’t understand why you’d serve someone a piping hot coffee in a glass that’s not insulated? They had coffee cups and that’s very dangerous to both the employees and customers! I’m honestly shocked that the server was able to hold them as long as he did without dropping them.
I ordered the breakfast burrito and seasonal fruit bowl, and my husband ordered the brioche French toast. My food was great, definitely recommend the burrito. My husband mentioned the French toast was crispy on the outside and soggy in the middle and didn’t have a lot of fruit on top. I’m not sure if that’s how it’s supposed to be.
The service was ok. It was very busy so I was trying to take that into consideration. Everyone was nice, just took a while and we had to ask for silverware and I had to grab sugars and to go boxes from the cart on my own.
They had a DJ who played some really good music! It was low key and had a good beat.
I will definitely go back, but there is definitely a little room for...
Read moreSunrose California Eatery is everything I could want in a coastal California dining experience! From the fresh, locally sourced ingredients to the laid-back yet stylish atmosphere, it’s an absolute gem that captures the heart and soul of California’s coastline.
We started with a Watermelon Refesher, which can be made with or without gin. And then the Patatas Bravas—crisp on the outside, melt-in-your-mouth on the inside, and paired with a whipped ricotta that was just the right level of creaminess. Then came the Crispy Salmon, perfectly seared and served over a bed of vibrant, seasonal veggies. The flavors were bright, fresh, and balanced, as though each ingredient was handpicked that morning.
The star of the night, though, was the Miso Chicken Salad. I never thought a simple salad could be so memorable, but the Thai basil was bursting with flavor, and the carrots and shallots were decadently crispy. Paired with a drizzle of local olive oil and a sprinkle of sea salt, it was pure California on a plate.
The setting couldn’t have been better. With large french doors opening onto a sunlit atrium with a water feature and contemporary decor, Sunrose California Eatery makes you feel like you’re right at home by the sea. And the staff was as wonderful as the food—friendly, attentive, and clearly passionate about the dishes they serve.
Whether you’re a local or just visiting, this place is a must. It’s not just a meal; it’s an experience that captures the beauty, flavors, and spirit of California’s coast. I go back now every...
