Flanigan's Ice Cream — Restaurant in Aiken County

I recently visited Flanigans with a friend, and our experience was a mixed bag. The appearance of the shop was nice, and it seemed clean and well-maintained. However, the flavor selection was limited, with most of the tubs being empty.

The customer service was absolutely terrible and unknowledgeable. My friend ordered two hot fudge sundaes, and the dipper opened a can of chocolate sauce and dipped it straight out of the can. When asked if the sauce was hot, the response was "it's pretty warm." The sundae was very bland, with only room temperature sauce and no other toppings.

Maybe it was just a bad day, but I'm willing to give them another chance before making my mind up completely. If they can improve their flavor selection, customer service, and attention to detail, they might be able to live up to their potential.

Old-fashioned, family owned ice cream parlor in the walking district of Aiken, South Carolina, open year-round

This place is a hit with pretty much everyone—kids, families, athletic teams, locals and out-of-towners.

They typically have 24 ice cream flavors to choose from and offer a range of sundaes and banana split variations.

My favorite flavor is their red velvet cake—a fave among many, so much so it’s often sold out!

One thing I especially appreciate about this spot is that they employ local high school students. I enjoy the staff because when they aren’t busy, they usually laugh or joke with me. And that makes me feel young!

UPDATE: Flanagan's Ice Cream has relocated from Doughtery Road to downtown Aiken and into another quaint, homey, cute old house. Now you have another place to relax and enjoy yummy ice cream that's just around the corner from Lauren's and a hard day of shopping. They did have to trade in the fire pit and multiple picnic tables for a small front yard but there's still outside seating. And it's on a quiet pretty side-street where you can watch people rather than speeding cars.
