Was looking for a dog friendly place to have a bite while I was in town to buy some hardware. Saw Grumpy's was pet friendly outside dining so I figured I'd give it a go. Slightly confusing for a pet owner simply because the signs say to let the staff know you're outside, but I didn't want to take my sidekick in and break any rules. Finally got that worked out by peeling in the side door and asking if I could get a menu and that I'd like to dine outside with my dog. Took about 10 minutes for a menu to arrive and literally 3 different waitresses walked past without checking on a drink order etc. After 20 minutes, a waiter asked if anyone had helped me and I said they hadn't...took my drink order and about 10 minutes later, came and took my food order. 30 minutes to get a menu, drink, and order taken...let me say, that's the negative. The POSITIVE is, the food was spot on and absolutely excellent. I ordered the fried curd with marinara for an appetizer... AMAZING For dinner I ordered a Reuben...and it was stellar. I opted for the upgrade onion rings...nothing special about them but the sauce with them was really good. All in all, I'd come back. I'm ok with waiting for quality food after it's ordered, there is room for improvement on the initial menu/drink order and follow up for meal order...

It’s pretty average bar food that could easily be better. Here’s the scoop. We dined outside since we had dogs with us and the patio is dog friendly. They have 2 large tents covering the patio areas which is particularly nice if there’s inclement weather. There’s heaters in there that come on at 60°. Plenty of seating. We were greeted by Kavis (?) who was so polite and provided excellent service. He was definitely the star of our experience. We ordered the fried pickles which we’ve had before. They’re good, really good. Not overly battered or greasy and they have a bit of firm crunch to them. I ordered an oyster basket (12.99)and with that came some disappointment. These were incredibly small and over fried to the point of the oyster disappearing. Served with an average needs more vinegar slaw & fries. Fries are listed as hand cut, curly or sweet potato but all are frozen not fresh despite hand cut lending you to believe otherwise. The O rings are frozen as well. The sweet tea was good & Kavis was on point with extra lemon. Again, it’s just average bar food.

Update: In the many years of living in Aiken I’ve frequented this place, never disappointed by the food but often disappointed with the level of customer service offered to their patrons. However my best friend can in from out of town and we decided on Grumpys! On ST PATTYS DAY☘️‼️‼️ There was a bit of a wait but after our name got on the list we were seated, greeted and fed quickly. Customer service was great (the entire staff we came in contact with) and the drinks were amazing. We were both pleased. Kudos Grumpys. ❤️☘️☘️☘️☘️ Smoked Chicken Nachos 10/10 Thai Thai Wings 10/10 Hot Dog W/ Sweet Potato Fries 10/10 Strawberry Dragontail Bucket 10/10 Irish Kisser 8/10 5 years ago: Customer service is usually poor. The manager Kyle has made it better the times I've had trouble. Food is usually really good but the last time they overlooked my food and the waitress who to the order got an attitude when I asked if I could have it prepare correctly. Maybe she was having a bad day but she created a bad experience for me.

My friends and I were regular patrons over the last two football seasons. When we first started going, the food was really good and they had a great selection of beers and liqour. (They still do.) Appetizers are also really good. (Still are.) However, the last few times I went, the service was really bad. Mostly new employees, and the wait times were ridiculous, from ordering to refills. Also I don't know what they did to their wings but they are not the same quality as when we first started going. Now they taste like they're just unfrozen and thrown in a microwave and covered in sauce to hide the blandness. The waiter we had was either brand new and never worked in the service industry or was smoking something because he was extremely slow and it took 45 minutes once we asked for our checks for him to bring them to us, take them, and return with our receipts. On a Sunday night, we came in to watch the prime time football game and apparently a large section of the restaurant had been booked by a group watching some other game. They refused to give us one of the three larger TVs and from our table, we had to watch the game off of a 32 inch screen that was on the wall perpendicular to us, and separated by a table from us to the wall. We weren't exactly close considering the size of the TV. I was not really happy with that especially since we were regulars and there were more than enough TVs for us to have one of the larger ones. This was our hangout spot to watch the games in Aiken so I've given it a couple of tries past being unsatisfied and they haven't given me a reason to...

Ordered a Chef salad for $10.00 and was only given 2 small containers of ranch. Salad wasn't made correctly. Called and spoke with manager Robin. She laughed in my face over the phone and hung on me after telling me that she would remake my salad for free. I called back and was told by another server that there was nobody over Robin and after asking about 5 different times.....she finally told me that the owner was Randy and that he was gone for the day and for me to call back in the morning between 10-11. I got backup there 15 minutes after talking with her and see a man walking to the back. I called out for him and ask was he Randy and guess what? It was him. I started talking to him and he said Robin said I yelled at her. I began to tell him she lied and explained what happen. He never apologized but tried to justified me be lying to by his server that he wasn't going to be there. I told him I just wanted my refund and handed him the salad. He pulled money out of his wallet, threw his wallet down on the counter....counted $13 and said to me "here you go....that should cover it." He never smiled or apologized. The manger Robin..when she walked by and heard me talking to Randy...she grabbed a tall guy and took him over in the corner by the window and started whispering something and laughing. My family and I eat there pretty often and despite there has been times of over cooked wings, slow and rude services....we continue to go back. Although I wish nothing but blessings upon this establishment; This was it for me because this service wasn't just rude but seemed...

I have been to Grumpy’s so so many times in the past 7 years I have lived in Aiken. Never Have I ever had the issues I had with Person, Jamie, and Waitress Hailey, my husband had ordered an IPA and a shot, we ate and asked for our server, and he ordered a special drink order that was on the menu, Hailey our waitress delivered a beer in a glass and a shot of whiskey, when we received the check, I noticed the check was wrong, they had charged us for two IPA and two shots of whiskey, when we asked for the check to be fixed, Person, Jamie came to our table, and asked us what was wrong with our check, we explained that Alvin had order a “ special” drink deal off the menu, and she said well that beer is in a can, Alvin said Ok, she said well we don’t have that, so I asked her, why did Hailey not tell us this when the drink was delivered, And her response to me was, Ma’am you don’t need to get an attitude.

At this point all was lost to the point of serious anger, and Person Jamie insulting me to the point of determining weather I could read or not! When she said I thought you Could Read!!! Not Once, during any of this discussion, did Jamie act in a Professional Manner, Alvin and I know Gary pretty well, and have been into his wonderful Restaurant many times, But the unprofessional Person Jamie, is not an Asset to the team of Great People that he has always been there in the Past, and it wouldn’t hurt to possibly Teach Hailey that is clearly the wrong way...
