I want to be upfront, I have been to Sabi numerous times and the service and food has been good. It is never overly busy and the Yum Yum sauce is the greatest. That is the experience I was hoping for when my family took me there tonight for my birthday.
It is not the experience that I had.
The food was good, but that goodness was overshadowed by poor service, a long wait for my food and my wife's food while the rest of our party ate, the addition of a meal that we didn't order, and the addition of an automatic service charge.
The waitress was not great. We had to ask for things several times and she even admitted that she forgot something that we asked for. She did not seem to be happy to be there. It did not instill confidence in further service.
While the food was good, it came out at very staggered times. My in-laws (3 people) were halfway through their meals before my wife or I even received our meals. I waited about 30 minutes after ordering to be able to enjoy my meal. On top of that, my brother-in-law never received the salad he asked for, my wife never received the ginger she asked for twice, and we received a house rice that we did not order. When we told the person who brought it out (not our main waitress) they said "oh, oh well."
When we received the bill we had been charged for the rice we didn't pay for and there was a large gratuity fee labeled a "party service fee" that was over $24. We spoke to them about this they took the extra meal off the receipt but only after having to explain to them, in a reasonable manner, why the order was wrong. When we asked about the service fee they said it is common. We were not informed such a fee would be added. We had a group of 6. The waitress never told us anything and the menu did not note it. When I asked them to remove it, as I should not be forced to pay that much for very poor service, they said no. They also said it was publicly noted. By that they meant there was an 8.5x11 sheet surrounded by so many other large colored sheets that you would miss it unless they went out and pointed to it, which they did not. Also, you miss it because the desk you check in at is to the left of the front door and you don't really see it. They even threatened to call the sheriff on me when I requested the fee be taken off. Honestly, we wouldn't have thought twice about it if the service was not so bad and the food came out at a decent time.
The worst thing is that, they blamed everything on us and didn't take responsibility for their mess ups. They told us that our food didn't come out because there were so many other people there. They were not busy...and even if so, that is not an excuse for bad service.
We would have had no problem with paying for some service, but our waitress did not earn as much as they charged us.
Chances are, I will not be returning to Sabi. If I do, it will be a very long time and I will hope their service has...
Read moreI used to come here when i was younger with my family and always loved it. I wanted to take my husband here on a date and it wasnt good. The salad and soup were very, very small and then the egg role didnt look appealing at all. Then when our food came half of the vegetables looked like half of them were cooked in a diffeent batch, the carrots were canned you could just taste it. Then the chicken was super dry, the steak was also purple idk why. I dont like complaining so kept quiet i wanted to have a nice meal with my husband. After that we got spicy tofu to try. We were full and wanted to take it home. Our waiter apologized and explained it would all fit in one bowl. I asked for another so we could split it my husband could take it to work. He said give me a minute i can try. He did and not even two seconds later the owner came to the table and started packing our food for us and took the 2nd container i asked for and told me i didnt need a 2nd container. Being very rude about it. After she left our table, our waiter came to apologize, it was after he got berated by the owner. I felt so horrible for the boy and wanted to tell off the owner. I asked for the container and had a reason if there was a fee for the container like i over heard i would have payed it. To be honest i hope the waiter finds a better job so he will never have to work under that picky women. I wouldnt like getting beat down just for listening to a costumer. The poor boy looked and acted super petrified the whole time we ate and at the end we found out why. WOULD NOT RECOMEND AT ALL TO BE HONEST. FOOD SUCKED AND THE WAITERS ARE SWEET, OWNER WAS RUDE, EVERYTHING IS ALSO HEAVILY OVER PRICED FOR THE AREA, IF THE QUALITY WAS BETTER IT WOULD BE...
Read moreNever will go again and do not think anyone else should. Horrible teatment.4/10/22 #30557 I ordered a Hibachi Meal and Ice Tea; which consist of a soup, a salad, and an entree. I never received a salad and I had to request a glass of tea three times after my order were taken. Tea is refillable, I was not given any refills. The problem was with my soup; when it arrived it was cold, refrigerator cold. I shared with the server that my soup was too cold to eat. She took it and returned it with more cold soup. Again I told her the soup was refrigerator cold and I could not eat it. Her reply was, "This soup is not cold, it was in a pot on the stove". She removed the soup. I asked could I have hot soup. She never returned with soup nor did she ever refill my tea. Because I was given a partial meal I believe I should have been given a partial bill. I requested a reduce in my meal at the register. The same server, Karla(Name maybe misspelled) rung me up. I said, "I did not receive soup, salad, or tea refills, my bill should be reduced. Her reply was, "No it not, are you paying with a card or cash". I did not want to cause my self any problems or be accused of stealing, so I paid the entire bill with my debit card. I believe I should be refunded 50% of the tea $1.38 and a two-third of my entree $9.97 because I was given 1 of the 3 items that I was charged for. My total refund...
