I am writing this review with extreme disappointment and frustration about my experiences at the North Augusta, SC PetSmart. I feel compelled to warn others to avoid this location due to a consistent pattern of unprofessional, dishonest, and racially biased behavior.
My primary issue is with their blatantly dishonest billing practices. On multiple occasions, I have taken my pet in for a specific, pre-discussed service, only to be presented with a bill that is significantly higher than the quoted price. When I question the charges, I'm told about "extra issues" that were suddenly "discovered" and addressed without my consent. This is not an oversight; it feels like a deliberate scam to inflate the bill, counting on pet parents being too flustered or concerned about their pet to argue. This is a breach of trust and is financially predatory.
Even more disturbing than the financial dishonesty is the clear racial discrimination I have witnessed and experienced. The staff's attitude and level of service change dramatically depending on the customer's race. I have seen white customers greeted warmly, given detailed explanations, and offered help willingly. In contrast, customers of color, including myself, are often ignored, spoken to with impatience, or treated with unwarranted suspicion. The difference in treatment is so obvious and consistent that it cannot be dismissed as a coincidence. It is a hostile and uncomfortable environment for anyone who is not white.
Between the scam-like surprise charges and the openly racist treatment, this store has lost my business forever. I do not trust them with the well-being of my pet, and I certainly will not support a business that treats people so poorly.
My advice: Drive to another location. Your pet deserves better care, and you deserve to be treated with basic respect and honesty, which you will...
Read moreI am so upset and disappointed in the service we received from Taylor in the Grooming Salon on June 13, 2023. When I dropped off my 2 year Miniature Schnauzer named Onyx @ 9:30 am, I was told that it would take 3-4 hours. At 1:30, my husband and I came back to check on him but she said that he was bathed and dried, but had not had a chance to groom him. Unfortunately, it took almost 6 hours where he was caged in the kennel barking and scared. After 6 hours (around 3:00 pm) she rushed to cut him as I kept coming back to check him, since it was well beyond the quoted 4 hours timeframe.
Onyx did not receive the haircut I wanted, after I showed her a picture and described what I wanted. Instead, he was scalped and nicked all over his body. Not only did Taylor not give me the haircut I asked for, but she cut his hair so close to his body that you can see his white skin underneath his black fur on his neck and around his ears. I asked for her to give him a low cut all over but and a rounded schnauzer face. But she cut his hair so low that he looks naked with and unfinished tire around his bottom part of his body. The schnauzer skirt that she tried to give him looks unblended and shaggy. Onyx, has marks on his left ear, and on his genitalia, his buttocks. Lastly, his left eye is extremely irritated.
When she finally called to let me know that Onyx was ready to pick up, she informed me that he had bitten her when she was grinding his nails and she only did 3 paws instead of four. Of course I apologized immediately, because maybe he was trying to tell her that he had gotten hurt. However, she failed to mention that she had constantly cut him while grooming him. Needless to say, he will never return to this butcher shop and Taylor is the absolute worst groomer we have ever encountered!

Read moreMe, again. I now volunteer with Molly's Malitia to help take care of the cats that are up for adoption placed at Petsmart for viewing. I stopped by for a few min on my unassigned day (night to be exact) just to see if I could help do anything. Before leaving I grabbed a bag of food for my own 2 little cute heads and proceeded to check out..after I had to let the guy sweeping 3 feet in front of me know that I was ready. Apparently standing and swaying at the register with food in hand isn't the global sign of READY anymore. He was cocky, short worded, and flat out acted as if I just interrupted him off the couch at the house. I was gonna let it go not knowing if I had pushed it to 9:01 with the store closing at 9. I even said thanks at the end of our awkward interaction although I wasn't thankful for anything and to no surprise he didn't say jack. As he walked away, head held high, I looked at my phone to notice it was 8:58...So I said "hey you know it's not 9 yet ,right" and he acted like he couldn't hear me...so I repeated it in the same way , in the same tone, at the same voice volume notch, and he said "yes why" and I said "because you just acted like I was the biggest bother and Interruption for you" and his excuse was because he was sick . I understand about being sick but you're at a place of business and once again he said "yeah but I'm sick". He never apologized or tried to make it right whatsoever! in fact, it was like he wanted me to tuck my tail in and walk away. So I walked away to my car to write this review. I'm calling someone who matters tomorrow and if I had his momma's number I'd call her too. He must be a sickly young man bc Ive only known him to act too big for his britches...
