My family and I were first timers at Floods Urban Seafood in Akron today. The server was very nice upon greeting us. She told my brother we could sit anywhere we liked. My brother picked a table and she told him not that one and sat us at a dirty table. There were no drink menus. We were told that everything they had to drink was behind the bar, meaning, I would have to get up from my table and look and see what their beer was. Hmmmm. There were only two other ppl in the place when we arrived. We received our menus and told her we needed a few minutes to look them over. A few turned into almost 15 because she was socializing with the two ladies at the bar. I was ready to give her our appetizer order, then our entrees. She told me that if I wanted the appetizer first, I needed to give her that order and the entree order later. Hmmm. Well, I gave her the appetizer order and she said she'd come back for the entree order. Fifteen minutes later, she took our entree order, but we did not have our appetizer. Fifteen to twenty minutes after that, she brings the wings(appetizer) and three of the four entrees. I was confused and wondered why we were getting our app with our entrees. She said that she told me to order it all together and it would have happened that way. No she didn't. So, we were served food on chipped plates. The kind of chipped where we could have cut ourselve, and the side plates were dirty. She finally brought out the fourth entree. She handed it to us across and down the bar. She didn't even walk around to serve the dish. She checked on us 20 minutes later. We were basically finished by that time. My brother asked for a water refill, she told him to put his cup up on the bar and she'd get him a new water. Five more minutes. She then asked us to stack our plates and put them on the end of the bar for her. Word? We then asked for the bill. Ten almost 15 minutes later that arrived. No, she wasn't busy. Every single time we waited, it was because she was talking to her friends. She copped an attitude, service was slow, dinnerware was dirty, and we bused are own table. In conclusion, the 18% gratuity that is automatically added to the bill is there for the server. It is to insure that she gets something for nothing, not that we get...
Read moreThis was my second time coming the first time my experience was OK so I decided to come back for a girls night with my friends. The appetizers and our waitress were OK but everything else was terrible. First of all we all ordered seafood boils with a couple add-ons we waited nearly two hours just for our food to arrive when we kept asking about our food we got every excuse in the book. Our food finally arrived everything was wrong and half of the food was missing the menu for the crab leg boil says three potatoes and two pieces of corn they literally took one potato and cut it up into small pieces the corn was overcooked and the sauce was disgusting they only gave us one cluster of crabs With half of the legs missing and the menu clearly says it's supposed to be a pound which is usually at least 2 clusters. They said they were going to go back and fix our orders which took even more time and when they came back everything was still wrong by this point we were ready to go so we told them to just bring our checks we got our checks and everything was over charged. They tried to charge us more than what the price was on the menu so we had to call the manager to have them fix it. Then we had an 18% gratuity charge which was a slap in the face seeing how the food and the service was terrible. We will not...
Read moreWe arrived in Akron late and were searching for a place to eat, drink, and unwind. Our host suggested a burger joint, but we were in the mood for something different and stumbled upon Flood Seafood Restaurant—a true hidden gem in the heart of Akron, Ohio.
From the moment we walked in, Diamond, our host, made us feel right at home. He’s a remarkable person, so treat him as you’d like to be treated. The service was outstanding; Diamond was not only the bartender but also our waiter, and he was impressively punctual and attentive throughout our visit. The vibe of the place was relaxed and welcoming, perfect for a laid-back evening.
Now, onto the food—simply amazing! I had the shrimp and grits, which were far from ordinary; they were the best I’ve ever had. You could tell the meal was prepared with care and love. What surprised me was the addition of broccoli in the grits; it was a fantastic twist that elevated the dish. Plus, the portion was generous enough for two!
My partner opted for the popcorn shrimp and corn, both of which were equally delicious. Overall, Flood Seafood Restaurant exceeded our expectations, and we can’t...
