I went in to an Acme Fresh Market for the first time in Akron Ohio. I was there to buy slivered almonds. After looking in the section labeled nuts, and the baking section I still was not able to find what I needed. I asked a worker that was in another section, telling him where I already looked, he finally went and asked yet another worker who also did not know where the almonds we're. He then walks too the same two sections I had already looked in, and I repeated that I already looked there. He acted like I was bothering him. He then says there are two other places they could be. No one who works here knows where anything is??? Finally there were some in the bulk section. Being as this was my first time in an Acme store, I had no idea I had to weigh and print a label. I walk to the other side of the store to the register where the girl tells me she can't ring them without a label, then hands them back to me, are you kidding me???? She can't look up the PLU and weigh them on the scale on her line??? Never have I been in a grocery store and the cashier can't look up a PLU. I the approach a manager tell him the issues and all he does is make excuses that when they look it up it is not correct and that is why they can't ring it forcing me to walk AGAIN to the other side of the store. It is clear to me that no one in this company can do thier job and is to lazy to provide any sort of customer service. I will never shop at an Acme Fresh Market and will share this experience with all my contacts so they can avoid the hassle they will experience in on of these stores. Good luck staying in business. Especially since Giant Eagle is not more competitive with pricing. The level of customer service at Giant Eagle is far superior to your...
Read moreI never encountered an "Acme Fresh Market" until moving to Akron from the Columbus, Ohio area. Prices are significantly higher in comparison to that of a "Meijer", "Giant Eagle", or "Walmart" with a much more limited inventory of products & brands to choose from in comparison. Customer service at this particular location isn't the greatest, as they only have the bare minimum number of workers on shift at any given time, attempting to keep up with a customer demand that by far exceeds the capabilities of such a minimum skeleton crew. In the workers defense, it is highly difficult to offer exceptional customer service when they are understandably overwhelmed by the un-realistic work load. "Acme", like many other grocery stores today, put profit & cost efficiency, above that of proficiency & a pleasant/satisfactory customer experience. Quantity over Quality. The "Acme Pharmacy" is also a department of frustration. The Pharmacist themselves are fantastic & very kind. The pharmacy technicians, however, seem to have a very high turnover rate & as a result, most have not yet fully learned the job, making transactional & timely errors that leave the customer waiting longer than expected. Given these frustrations, I would much rather do my grocery shopping at a "Meijer", "Giant Eagle" or "Walmart". I may encounter very similar circumstances at each one of these grocery stores, however, I will at the very least, be able to take advantage of the significantly lower prices & much larger inventory of product &...
Read moreAcme Fresh Market is a LOATHSOME place. I've never ever seen another human being smile here even once in the many years we've been patrons. Their prices are garbo, but they're local so that really can't be helped. But being local should make a place feel more alive and connected to the community. Acme seems to do the exact opposite. Every single staff member actively avoids every single customer and I swear I've never ever seen a positive interaction between two people in this entire store. Any time a customer is able to catch a staff member, for even the smallest question or interaction, the conversations are stilted and absolutely oozing with condescension. This place is a a factory of sadness rivalling First Energy Stadium (or whatever it's called now.)
I really wish I could give this place a good review, because it's clean and well maintained. I just wish that everyone inside wasn't completely miserable, and I wish I knew the cause of the misery. Reading some of the reviews here maybe sheds some light on it? Are these people just paid nothing? Is there a problem with abusive leadership? Why is this place so soul-crushingly depressing to shop at?! Market District in the Falls feels infinitely more connected to the community, and their prices are even worse!
Maybe it's a lack of competition, and to that I say, good luck with Aldi coming in across the street. You're...
