One of the worst experiences I’ve had dining at a restaurant. There were so many issues with this place I hope I remember them all in this post.
They were severely understaffed. This was Mother’s Day for reference. One woman working the bar, one server, and one cook. The seating for our group of 15 was very cramped and uncomfortable. We had to grab our own menus. They didn’t have anyone to take our orders at the table so we had to order drinks and food at the counter up front.
After ordering two alcoholic beverages for my wife and I, and 3 hot chocolates for my children we were told to have a seat and our drinks would be brought out to us. The hot chocolates came to the table but our alcoholic beverages did not. So I got up once again (because the server was too busy) to inquire about our drinks. The woman who took our order and told us to have a seat stated that she gave me our drinks. This was not true. After some back and forth she reluctantly made the drinks. She gave the impression that she didn’t believe that I never received them in the first place.
My sister accidentally knocked her plate over at the table. Which I’m under the impression that this is not uncommon at a restaurant. The staff replaced her meal for free which was appreciated but when the cook brought the replacement meal out he stated very unprofessionally “Don’t drop this one.” You don’t talk to customers like that.
The food took too long to come out. When it did come out we didn’t receive everything. I ordered 4 French Toast meals for my family and I, amongst other things. We only received two. After waiting patiently for some time I got up once again (because we had no server) to inquire about our missing food. While speaking with the woman behind the bar the cook interjected stating that he gave us all of our food. I responded to him saying that wasn’t true. My son and I never received our French Toast. He then goes on trying to explain how his process is pretty much bulletproof because he marks off meals as he goes. I responded once again telling him we’re missing two of our meals. He then stated “You’re trying to tell me I don’t know how to do my job.” At that point I was extremely angry and I let them know it. Not only did it seem as if they were attempting to accuse me of lying about not receiving something I was paying for AGAIN. But this cooks attitude was completely inappropriate and unacceptable. I never said he didn’t know how to do his job, I just wanted the food I was paying for. But if me not receiving my food means that you don’t know how to do your job then I guess you DON’T! They then went to the back to try to figure out what happened. They found a French Toast meal just sitting in the warmer and who knows what happened to the second one. I’m assuming that he replaced my sister’s French Toast with one of ours and never made another one to give to us.
At that point I was no longer hungry and asked for both French Toast meals to be removed from my bill. Along with a pineapple soda I also ordered that I never received. At that point the woman was very apologetic and gave no issues removing the items from my bill.
My father also wrote a review. The owner responded accusing us of having over 23 people which overwhelmed them. This is a lie. They couldn’t seat 23 people at one table in this place if they wanted to. Then the owner mentioned my sister knocking her plate over as if this doesn’t happen in restaurants. I also want to make it clear that the restaurant was never more than 50% full and they still couldn’t handle everything. Our family had to remove our own plates from the table when they were done eating.
The service was terrible. The staff is rude. They make a lot of mistakes and there’s no accountability for those mistakes. They blame the customer. Do yourself a favor and find somewhere...

We came to The Daily Pressed on Mother’s Day with a party of 15, expecting a pleasant meal to celebrate our loved ones. What we got was the worst dining experience I’ve had in over 40 years.
The restaurant was full, but only staffed with one bartender, a newly hired server/host, and one cook. It was immediately clear they were overwhelmed and unprepared for a holiday crowd. While we tried to remain patient, the service was painfully slow.
When food began trickling out, it was lukewarm, bland, and in some cases not what we ordered. Even worse, some of our meals never made it to the table at all. When we inquired about the missing entrees, the cook came out from the kitchen and got into an argument with my son, insisting he had made the food—even though we never received it. That kind of unprofessional behavior, especially in front of a dining room full of families, is completely unacceptable.
This experience turned what should have been a joyful occasion into a stressful, frustrating one. Poor planning, lack of accountability, and terrible food quality made this visit a huge disappointment. I genuinely hope management takes this seriously and rethinks how they operate during high-volume events.

The response below from The Daily Pressed is defensive and a bit passive-aggressive. They’re trying to justify their service by pointing to an alleged unexpected increase in party size and emphasizing that the food was fresh and timely, even under pressure. They also call out a broken plate and imply that doesn’t happen in a restaurant.
Let me be clear: our reservation was exactly for 15 people, and only 16 people attended. There was no “60% increase” and no last-minute surprise. It’s extremely disappointing to see the restaurant misrepresent basic facts to avoid taking responsibility for a poor experience.
On one of the busiest dining days of the year, our group experienced: • Unreasonably slow service • Several meals that never arrived • Food that was cold or inconsistent in quality • A cook who got into a verbal altercation with one of our guests
Despite this, we remained respectful and patient. For management to respond by rewriting the story instead of addressing the legitimate concerns raised in our review is unprofessional.
We understand the challenges that come with a busy day. But what we experienced wasn’t just a delay—it was a breakdown in service and accountability. A little honesty and humility would’ve gone a lot further than trying to shift blame onto...
Read moreMy husband and I stopped by Daily Pressed Spring 2023 not long after they had opened about 2:30pm on a weekend. Given the name ... Daily Pressed ... we expected to have coffee. The bartender, who I believe was the owner, didn't know how to use the espresso maker, so they were only serving cocktails. Okay. It was before their official opening, so they were still getting there stuff together. We had a smoked old fashioned, and it was good. The bar was finished, but the rest of the restaurant was in disarray. It's been about 6 months now, and I have heard they are serving food and have been anxious to see how it has evolved. Sadly, it hasn't met its potential. We arrived at 5:40pm on Saturday 9/30/23. Place wasn't open, so we walked down to Lockview. Honestly I wasn't sure they'd be open either as this is the problem in downtown Akron, you show up and the posted hours tend to be an aspiration more than a statement of fact. We spent $50 dollars plus 30% tip at the Lockview bar before walking back to our car which was passed Daily Pressed. Delightfully, Daily Pressed was open, so we went in. The bartender, Olivia, was on her own, so no food, but we ordered drinks. Olivia was a knowledgeable and skilled bartender, and the drinks were great, but I was disappointed not to be able to eat. Olivia was engaging and we stayed and drank longer than we intended, given the lack of food, because Olivia is skilled in the art of conversation and mixology. To me Daily Pressed is trying to be too much too soon. If you want to be a cocktail bar start there with consistent hours, once you have a regular clientele, add food and if you say you are open, have the staff to be open. I live in Akron and want to see downtown businesses thrive, but if I go somewhere a couple times during their stated hours and they aren't open, or they don't offer what they claim (coffee, food, cocktails) there is no incentive to go back, and certainly no reason to mention it to friends. A business can't thrive without repeat customers and word of mouth. You already have at least one talented employee, something that is difficult to come by in and of itself today. Capitalize on your strengths instead of trying to be open endless hours with a portion of the offerings stated on your website and menu. I'm rooting for you and for all downtown Akron businesses. I hope to visit soon on a night that you have full service. A big shout out to Olivia for delivering on...
