Captain D's — Restaurant in Alabama

This was absolutely one of the best visits I have had to this location of Captain D's. The gentleman who prepared my food also checked the sweet tea and changed it out for me, because the urn in the dining room area was like sugar water. He also packed my food after checking it again to make sure it was all correct. He then got every sauce I had asked for and even made sure I had napkins to take home for my family. Outstanding customer service! But, it did not end there, he also walked me to my car and put my bags inside as well. I have never received service like this before at this location. I wish I had gotten his name bc he definitely deserves to be thanked in this review. I shook his hand and told him how appreciated his help was to me. He had a smile on his face the entire time, did not seem bothered that he was doing all of these jobs. He just did them. I will be returning to this location bc he changed my perception of the service here after a very horrible experience a few months before. It seems as though they have truly hired people who understand that all it takes is treating another human being as you would want to be treated and your business will grow. Always inconsistent service at this location on top of an extensive wait time. Went one night and walked out after waiting almost 10 mins because the girl there walked up to the counter then turned and walked off. She didnt even say give me a minute or anything. Went back this evening and ordered my food at 517, my food wasnt ready until 537ish when I ordered, there was no one inside and only one car at drive through. On top of the wait period, the food I received was sub par. It was thrown on the plate with no type of care. The fries were old and reheated, the shrimp was shriveled up & the chicken was so small it couldn't even be considered a chicken tender. The only thing fresh was the fish. When I stated my disappointment, the manager on duty told me "our chicken is always small, hahaha. What do you want to exchange it for or do you want an extra piece of fish instead? " I told her for 9 dollars, the food should be better than it was and one extra piece of fish is not worth 9 bucks. She offered to have it remade but if the "chicken is always small", why would I order it again? Also didn't want to wait another 20 plus minutes for something to be cooked. I eat at some nice seafood restaurants but none of them have better slaw. Anything Southern (Country) Fried is usually good. Corn on cob is mushy. Broccoli is good with added salt. Tea is very good & free refills. Shrimp are small and children like them. My wife likes the salmon when they offer it. Orders take a while but always Fresh & HOT- I love this! Sauces are great. The hush puppies and hot fries are good too. At this low price don't look for ambience or great service. That would be unreasonable. The place could use a light update.
