Bad experience, good waitress, AWFUL manager
We arrived at 12pm on Father's Day 2024 with a party of 4. A wait was expected, and we were perfectly ok with that. We waited about 25 minutes to be seated. No problem. We placed our order pretty quickly, and the appetizer came out promptly. Then the wait started. All of people around us left, and new people came. No food. Our waitress apologized for the wait several times and told us they had a large party order go in right before ours. Understood. She came back by at least 4 more times to apologize for the wait. During this time, we noticed 1 party of 5 that came in after us be served. Then a party of 7 who came in after us, be served. We watched 3 more tables be served (total of 5 now) before I asked a passing waitress for a manager. That waitress went and told our waitress we asked for a manager (instead of getting the manager), and our waitress later came and told us she'd asked for the manager to come see us about the delay of our food, and they told her, "well, it's Father's Day". I explained that the wait wasn't our issue, but all of the other tables being served around us, was, and I requested that the manager "come see us and not send messages through you". We continued to sit and wait while 4 more tables who came in after us, were served. FINALLY, a man in an orange shirt, came carrying a tray of food to our table. He immediately started asking who had what, and I asked if he was the manager. He replied, "yes", so I explained, "my problem today is not the wait at all, and our waitress has been great. My problem is that all 9 (pointing at them) of these tables came in after us and have been served, one has eaten and gone, and we've continued to ask about our food over and over". This "managers" response, after an eye roll, was simply, "they told me about it and that's why I brought it over here. It's fresh and hot (with sarcasm), now, who had the spicy shrimp?" I immediately asked him his name, and he replied, "James". As an alleged manager, there was no apology, no empathy, and he didn't seem to have a care in the world to actually try and listen to, verify, or understand what I was trying to convey. He sat the plates down and said, "can I get you anything else?", and my fiancé replied, "the check!". James rolled his eyes and walked away. After countless visits to Kravers, countless dollars spent at Kravers, celebrations of special occasions at Kravers, and countless referrals to Kravers... my family and I will not be back... and yes it's 100% due to James' attitude and sarcasm!!! It was a fun run while it lasted, but I will not take my hard earned money to support the salary of a person who behaves like this towards customers. Too aggravated and infuriated to even eat, we boxed our food, paid the check, and allowed our elderly parents to eat some of their food, which they didn't even finish because they were upset too. We left at 2:06pm on 6/16/24, after arriving at noon. Dear James, it is always helpful to a customer if a manager simply listens, and an apology and/or explanation goes a long way. If a customer asks for a manager, sending messages back through the staff, is anything but management. Do better! Farewell...
Read moreOur group went to Kravers tonight with a large group of 17. Our reservation was for 7 pm, and we were seated promptly in their back "party" room. However, that was the only "prompt" thing about the evening.
It took 20 mins for everyone in our party to get our drinks. My husband and I ordered draft beers, which arrived lukewarm and slightly flat - like they had been sitting on the bar for awhile. By the time someone finally took our orders, we had been at the restaurant for an entire hour. We had 3 young kids in our party that resorted to eating the packaged crackers on the table, because they got too hungry waiting on our food.
We did not get our food until 8:57 -- almost two hours after being seated, and a solid hour after our orders were placed, which is just insane! It would be different if this was a fine dining establishment that made intricate recipes to order, but come on, 95% of our orders were either deep fried shrimp, or deep fried chicken - which takes all of 15-20 mins at the most to cook! Not to mention, the food was just, "okay." It was well seasoned, but our shrimp were somewhat overcooked, and the onion rings fell apart. One person in our party ordered grilled shrimp that were oily and overcooked. The food could have been worse, yes, but after waiting 2 hours, we expected to be wowed.
There were also wrong order issues. One person in our party didn't get her correct side until 20 mins after a manager was asked to our table - right before we were about to leave the restaurant. That was after her order came to the table incorrectly twice. Then the server gave us the wrong bill, lost our correct bill, then finally fixed it - 15 mins later. All in all, we were at Kravers for over 3 hours, for fried seafood.
I do not actually blame the server for all the issues - poor guy was given no less than 2 very large groups to take care of by himself - which would be overwhelming to even the most experienced server.
The restaurant was very busy, and we were a large group - but, I have worked in restaurants before, and this type of slow service is what kills businesses. When you pay $60 for two shrimp platters, and 3 small kids meals, have to wait 2 hours to get the food, with order inaccuracies, and poor manager response, it leaves a bad taste in your mouth. If no change occurs, I would be shocked if they are still...
Read moreMy family and I have been in Mobile for a year, and this WAS one of our favorite places until last night. We took our daughter from Florida there after hyping up how good the food was. We got our food, and the fish was overcooked, my fiance got a shrimp that appeared to have been half eaten, the crab cakes were cold, and my son's fish was lukewarm and had a grey tint to it. We politely asked for the manager to come over, and he immediately came over with a look of irritation on his face. I calmly explained to him that we were not happy with our food, and he began cutting me off rudely and making excuses. My daughter told him the grease that the fish was fried in tasted old and he promptly shut her down saying, "no its doesn't". Did not realize he knew her taste buds so well...Then proceeded to tell us we were trying to get a free meal and if we didn't like the food he will take it away but doesn't want us "to go hungry tonight", with a highly sarcastic overtone. After trying to ask him to not take it personal and to not be so defensive, he said, "Fine, ill just pay for your meal, so I'm gonna have to take it", and began angrily snatching our plates from us. He then said "You still have to pay for drinks", which we did, and even left a tip. I mean, just the look on his face and his attitude was absolutely nasty as he dealt with us. So this afternoon I decided to call the store in the hopes that I could speak to his superior about how nasty we were treated, and the same manager got on the phone. I asked him if i could get a number or contact info for a GM, and he asked me to leave my name and number and he would get it to him. This isn't my first rodeo, so I did not trust that he would forward the info, and I told him such. He then tells me to "Call the Daphne store". I did call the store and left my info with the manager. I will never eat here again, The quality of the food has declined dramatically, and no one seems to like their job. I didn't ask them to apply there, so idk why my family had to deal with such negative behavior. Its truly a shame too because we...
