Oviedo, FL. Our group likes Poblanos, and has come here about four times. One of us is from New Mexico, one of us was married to a person from Mexico, and I prefer SoCal Mexican food. Poblanos pleased all eight of us.
We had the Tacos de Carne Asada (diced steak on two soft corn tortillas per serving accompanied by cilantro, minced white onions, rice and refried pinto beans); Pollo Chorizo (grilled chicken topped with cheese sauce and chorizo); Pollo a la Mexicana (grilled chicken topped with jalapeños, peppers, onions, cheese and cilantro); a chicken quesadilla; a steak burrito; a taco salad in a crispy flour tortilla; an enchilada with green sauce; and a Greek salad (the cheese was a bit spongey, more like queso casera, and the vinaigrette was more red wine vinegar than olive oil and it lacked oregano and garlic but the greens were very fresh).
The salsa was good, flavored with cumin and cilantro, and my friend ate the guacamole with her fork! She said it was great, it had white onions in it but not too many.
We loved the colorful paintings and sombreros on the wall. It never got crowded (this was a Monday night). Service was impeccable. The restaurant was immaculate and even the bathrooms were immaculate.
Next time I’d like to try the shredded chicken taco salad. If they get that shredded chicken right—-stewed, not tough—-I’ll be...
Read moreSo went here late night before they closed, super excited due to all the positive reviews. After much deliberation, tacos was decided for dinner . So everyone was excited to supposedly have the best carne asada tacos and of course a true favorite birria tacos. Those were unfortunately some of the worst tacos we have had . The birria flavor was off and very tough., the corn tortillas were an awful taste. My mom said that the carne asada tacos were inedible and went without dinner. the rice tasted old., the refried beans had a tasteless cheese and themselves were extremely bland and soggy. The plating was messy . The tortilla chips were stale and the sauce was bad tasting as well. I had to beg my family to come here and we are all so disappointed and don't think we will ever be coming back. Super sad about the food. People were super nice which is so unfortunate, I so badly wanted to love this place but almost 40 dollars for some of the worst tacos, rice and beans with chips and salsa was...
Read moreHubby and I stopped in for lunch once. I ordered a steak tostada with rice and beans. It was very tasty so the next time I was in the area I ordered delivery, tampiquena listed as sirloin and a separate ribeye dinner. Both pieces of meat were identical, and sooo fatty! I’ll give it that it was flavorful, what pieces of meat we were able to get around the fat.Tamiquena was supposed to come with rice and beans, got 2 rice no beans. On to cheese enchiladas included with tampiquena dinner. A hot mess of melted cheese which tasted like white cheddar, maybe, instead of chihuahua. Really not good. Chicken enchiladas so so but all in all I would never order again. I’m from Chicago where we get authentic Mexican food and...
