HELLO EVERYONE! THIS IS EL READER!
I need to be honestâthis was my FIRST time ever visiting this place, despite many people recommending it. One of the reasons I hadnât gone until today was primarily because of the times theyâre open as well as the location, which has very limited parking. (WE NEED TO BE A CYCLING AND WALKING CIVILIZATION!)
I went all outâpossibly the most I have ever spent at a sandwich shop. I ordered the lamb sandwich (because I wanted to feel a bit bougie), the smoked turkey sandwich, spaghetti (ordered ahead), three meatballs, their tiramisu (OMG! SO GOOD!), their artichoke pasta salad, two bags of chips, and this little chocolate dessert that came in a box from Italy (I hope tariffs donât make it more expensiveâitâs so good).
The lamb sandwich was absolutely delicious. My eyes rolled so far back that I swear I saw my a$$ (Need to hit the gym). The spaghettiâwell, let me tell youâI am not Italian, but I feel like if I had an Italian grandmother, I could taste her love in it.
The folks working behind the counter are wonderful people. They work hard and donât have time to waste, so you better know what youâre ordering by the time they get to youâor better yet, just order ahead. I have never wanted to try every sandwich from any sandwich shop before, but this place might just add me to the growing homeless population in the Bay Area.
If you have a chance to come to Alameda, make sure you stop by. Be warnedâit does get busy, and like I said, parking is limited. I chose to visit after the lunch rush and ordered ahead.
I just want to thank the wonderful people at Dominicoâs for their excellent service and for letting me taste the passion, love, and pride in the beautifully crafted sandwiches and food they prepare.
10/10âwill definitely go broke eating here again and...
Read moreDomenicoâs is one of those places you walk into once and immediately know youâll be back. Itâs a cozy little mom-and-pop Italian sandwich shop that feels like home the second you step inside. The owners are super friendly, always ready with a smile and a genuine âHow ya doinâ?â Itâs the kind of spot where they remember your name, your usual order, and probably what you had last time too.
The sandwiches? Absolutely killer. Whether you're grabbing a classic Italian combo stacked with prosciutto, salami, and sharp provolone or diving into one of their warm, saucy meatball subs, every bite is packed with flavor. The bread is always fresh, the ingredients are top quality, and you can tell everythingâs made with care. They donât cut corners hereâjust thick slices of goodness and old-school flavor.
What really sets Domenicoâs apart, though, is the vibe. Itâs not just about great food (though there's plenty of that)âitâs about the people, the stories, and the feeling that you're part of something special. Itâs the kind of place you tell your friends about, but secretly hope stays just enough under the radar. If you havenât been yet, go. Youâre seriously...
Read moreFINALLY THEY ACCEPT CARD PAYMENTS!!! I've been a patron for over 30 years thanks to my Moms near addiction to their shredded turkey sandwiches... Tho I think she might be the only one who still orders it shredded! Order a 'Vicky' and they'll know exactly how to make it, sweet roll, shredded turkey, cheddar, no onions, no extras! Personally, I'm all about the baked turkey! This is not your standard cookie cutter sandwich shop, this is a full on authenticate, family owned delicatessen. They make their own pasta and mac salad, antipasta, and more. The meats and cheeses available are good quality, and they have an amazing selection of chips, treats and unique small batch drinks (incl beer and wine) to wet your whistle.
Everytime I treat myself to their tasty delights, I am flooded with childhood memories of being home sick from school and my Mom coming home for lunch, sharing her sandwich with me while we watched Perry Mason on channel 20. While she is retired now, and channel 20 changed their noon hour show years ago, we can still bond while enjoying our favorite Dominico's...
