Toomie's is an excellent Thai restaurant, its modest size ensures that service is quick and always personal...Even when you order to go or come to pick up a phone order they are nice enough to offer you ice water and encourage you to sit down at an empty table if your order isn't quite ready yet. Their Thai iced tea, fried tofu with peanut sauce appetizer, pineapple fried rice (so tasty!) and Mango sticky rice dessert are our personal favorites for a quick treat or light meal. When it comes to entrees, their green curry is wonderful over white or brown rice and is an every time standard at our house. I'm not very big on seafood myself, however their dishes always look and smell so good they make me want to take my taste buds to explore new territory. Being on a tight budget and enjoying good quality foods isn't always an easy combination, and I am thankful that Toomie's offers a good balance to this concern, they aren't cheap or skimpy, moderately priced and decently portioned fits the bill. The environment inside is far more pleasant than you'd think by the tiny door you enter and its surrounding bustling retail neighbors. I'd certainly suggest it for a date night with its quant size, ethnically true interior design, and the personal service they take pride in offering. They are open for lunch hours, then again for dinner. Enjoy! Mmm, a Thai iced sounds good right...
Read moreSince COVID, Toomieâs has been my go-to. I give these guys my business in a pretty regular basis. The food is decent and thatâs why I keep coming back but these two concerns have been bugging me. This incident however broke the camelâs back. Their noodles are way too saucy. Less 30% is more than fine. Itâll still taste good. I donât need to be thirsty for 24 hours. The second and final concern is their use of paper containers as nearly half the time the sauce spills and eats through the paper bag even with a piece of aluminum holding up the food. On more than one occasion, Iâve had to clean my carpets by hand. This time was the worst as EVERY step from my front door up to the second floor had sauce trail. I spent 30 mins cleaning up the mess. If this doesnât improve, Iâm afraid I canât give repeat business. Itâs a simple fix. Use plastic bags, not paper bags over the...
Read moreThis used to be my go-to spot for Thai food in Alameda, but no longer. In fact, I would say this is the most I've seen a restaurant decline in one year.
They're taking so many DoorDash orders they can't keep up with two customers seated in the dining room. I was with one other person. His food came out, then mine came out almost 19 minutes later. While I watched him eat and waited for my food I saw 13 DoorDash orders go out.
And the restaurant is just dirty. There's paint peeling off the walls, the chairs are filthy, and the cashier area looks like something you'd find in a third world country. The kitchen is behind a partition and if what is visible outside is as dirty as it is I can only imagine what it looks like in the kitchen.
It is time for this restaurant to close. Someone is going to get sick if they haven't already. I...
