I don't stay in a lot of motels so this was a new experience, but man was it good. I'm still here as I write this review. The place is well located with plenty of places to eat around it. It is quiet despite being on the road, and the AC provides some good white noise anyways.
I read some of the reviews before staying and I will agree with everyone else- this place is CLEAN. They obviously spend a good deal of time to ensure it stays that way. I really appreciate that about this place.
I stayed in the family suite since we had a couple with us. The pictures online don't do a good job at showing what you get, but essentially it's a 2 bedroom suite with 1 full bathroom. You walk into a living room with a closet, dresser, TV, fridge/freezer, and a bed that is smaller than a queen but bigger than a full size (my wife and I slept in it and was fine). That main room also has the door to the bathroom. But then there is another room that has 2 queen beds and it's own TV, AC, and closet. So you could have 6 people stay here but the 1 bathroom may get old, although sleeping wise it would be perfectly big enough (especially for a family).
Btw- they allow you to borrow sleds and wax for the white sands which is really generous so we didn't have to buy any. The service is excellent and the owner is super nice! There is a continental breakfast in the morning which has the basics but honestly, for the price of the place, everything is probably the best value you can get...
Read moreI had just spent the day (03SEP2022) cycling US54 North from El PasoTX (94.5miles/152kms) and was more than ready to get off the road. I probably could have gotten a less expensive (~$100usd) room for the night, but Chuck gave me a Veteran’s discount, it was adjacent to an excellent eatery AND this Labor Day holiday was driving up prices everywhere. Besides being an all-ground level/ADA-compliant, it Turns out this was perfectly sized for me, a singleton and his eBikeKit-assisted CruzBike. The recharging was easy, especially since I carry my own heavy duty extension cord & Grin Technologies recharger. Being a “Digital Dinosaur”, I couldn’t quite figure out the excellent flat-screen TV, but that was OK because exhaustion/need for rest was the dominating factor. The bed was quite comfortable and the a/c unit worked wonderfully well; I kept the bathroom door closed—no need to try to cool that space, too. The brekkie was quite nutritious and filling. I was glad to have been the first person in at (07:00) because the space filled nearly to capacity. I felt lucky to have gotten a room here without a reservation—tourists are booking every motel/hotel to “No Vacancies”. I’ll definitely return; WHITE SANDS MOTEL has certainly earned my “¡Wheel...
Read moreGal at front desk would not help us get online price and reception there was terrible. Finally dropped down from like $169 to $99, a tad more than online . Originally front desk said almost booked up (with seven cars in the very large parking lot). Rooms were pretty clean, but need some sprucing up. Place was quiet (and lots and lots of parking). There were more cars in morning and the Continental breakfast adequate and clean. Rooms were very large, but likely planned by someone on a cocktail napkin after some great drinks-- I mean a kleenex box dispenser in the middle of a wall and make up mirror lights above the toilet made us laugh out loud. Ice machine was down. Close place if you're going to the Carlsbad Caverns. Book online before you get there (many of us weren't born yesterday) and maybe ask to see your room before accepting it, as ours needed a little maintenance, see pics). The electric cord spliced with just black tape was a bit concerning and the discolored mirror a tad gross. Again, book online before you get there to avoid the "almost booked up approach" but check out the room before you accept what...
