I can't even believe the horrible experience I had with the owner of this place (who also owns the Super 8 down the road). I will say the front desk girl was a sweetheart and I feel bad she works for such a rude, dehumanizing person. My original reservation was for the Days Inn but when I arrived I was told I couldn't have my support animal with me there, but at their sister location I could and I was assured my reservation and pricing would stay the same. Ok, annoying but that's fine. We drove to their other location (Super 8 Alamogordo) and the owner himself was at the front desk. He tried to have us pay over $30 more for a room PLUS charging a pet fee. I travel with a support animal, have stayed in dozens of hotels with my dog (no pet fee ever charged since she's a support animal) and this man denied me my reservation and called me a liar, even though I had proper documentation to prove it. I don't know how he's in the hospitalalitiy industry. Never in my life have I been made to feel the way he treated me, I was crying in the lobby during my attempted check in, almost had a panic attack. On top of that he wasn't even wearing a mask, came around from behind the plexi glass at the front desk (mind you this city had a recent COVID spike) and was shouting in our faces. Unreal. There are so many other motel/hotel options in the area, I would not reccomend giving this man business at this location or his other one (Super 8 in Alamogordo). We ended up getting a room at a hotel right next door, Magnuson Hotel, and it was the most pleasureable, COVID safe experience. Do yourself a favor and stay at Magnuson, they...
Read moreEverything seemed nice at first, but once we got settled in, that's when things started to become clear. There was a staff member that worked the front desk that kept challenging us on everything we did. We asked for more towels in our room because there were only two and my girl uses two to shower with, and the staff asked us "Well how many people are in the room? There's only two of you and there's two towels." we we found it very strange we needed to justify why we wanted more towels, but then she very reluctantly asked us how many we need. After telling her multiple times we needed two, we again said if you are able to give us two, we would please like two. The rooms themselves seemed nice at first, they were missing the fine details of a room that had just the bare minimum of maintenance that was done to it. Sinks were clean, but didn't have a drain plug in it, just an empty hole with a screw inside it. The fan in the bathroom didn't work, so the bathroom steamed up and made the floor very slippery, and the bath tub had wear marks and cracks in it from where people had been standing. The flooring of it was squishy in some places as well and made me question when someone had actually gone in there and inspected the room for quality control. The air conditioner was sub-par as well, since I had to lay on the bed, without blankets, with the A/C on the lowest setting to even attempt to fall asleep, but I still awoke sweating. Overall if you're in a pinch and you don't care about any of the stuff mentioned above, this could work. Otherwise I would...
Read moreThe reason I rate the Days Inn a '5 stars' is because hit hits all the key points perfectly for a hotel of this type. The bed, the most important and was extremely comfortable, The noise level is low, you don't hear your next door neighbors and traffic on the roadway. The air conditioner has a constant on button so you don't have to deal with the unit constantly turning on and off during the night. The complimentary meal is good and a quick way to get started on your day. Free internet and plenty of TV channels. The staff was helpful and remembered when I asked them to clean the room during my stay and provide additional towels. The location was close to restaurants and other businesses. It's also close to the attractions in the area such as the White Sands National Park. Even though I didn't use the laundry services, a washing machine and dryer were conveniently located at the Days Inn. Has a pool that was clean and parking was never a problem. Beside the comfort of the bed, the most important point to consider is the price of your stay. This was spot on. I travel for work and pleasure all over the world and have stayed at some of the very best hotels. I stayed for 3 nights at this location. The next time I return to Alamogordo, NM, I will being staying at the Days Inn by Wyndham....
