It's an unassuming place from the outside, and there's only a few tables, but the food is very good. To be honest, we weren't expecting to find some of the best Greek cuisine we've ever had in Anchorage, of all places, but it was a welcome surprise.
The dolmades are just a little crisp on outside and perfectly seasoned, with none of the sharp, almost acrid flavor so common among store bought or lower quality dolmas. The potatoes are exquisitely seasoned to really bring out the flavor, and are fluffy and smooth without being too dry. The cheese puffs and spanokopita were the best I've personally tried, and the dessert at the end, which was some sort of custard in phyllo, was positively transcendent.
We also enjoyed the music, which we were impressed to learn was actually also made by the owner and chef. It made for good ambience and was soothing to my four month old baby who enjoyed the scents and sounds and sat there and giggled for much of the meal.
All in all a fabulous experience. We will be repeat customers for sure. We cannot wait to try the lamb; my father in law is literally salivating at...
Read moreA hole in the wall mom and pop place to its very bones. The Greek salad is very Greek- chunks of tomato, cucumber, and feta over leaf lettuce with oil drizzle. The greek potatoes and vegetarian dolmades are my all time favorite- especially when they're eaten while still warm. Yum. For the gyro, I'd recommend ordering extra tzatziki as the pita is thick and can make the sandwich a bit dry. I thought the meat was good but it has a subtle flavor. My husband wished it had more meat, but I don't eat a lot of meat to begin with so I thought it was the perfect amount. If your preference is a lot of meat then ask for it while ordering. The sweet cashier gave us free Greek Easter bread as well which warmed my heart. Excited to try other...
Read moreWe came to this restaurant because it says on google they offer dine in which was not the case, all orders must be for to go. We ordered 2 gyro plates which were $15 each (which i don’t mind paying so much for some good greek food) they came with a greek salad and some potatoes(pretty bland). Overall the food was mediocre and truly nothing to rave about unfortunately. It’s sad when you expect a fresh gyro and instead hear the microwave being slammed and the buzzer going off. The greek coffee i wanted to try because i read previous reviews about how delicious it was and whatnot, absolutely not. The smell was very off putting and i couldn’t even drink more than a sip. So overall...
