Potentially the best coffee in Alaska is served here but the atmosphere is "come and go" which mirror the owners (Sweet Caribou) focus.
The Sweet Caribou Kitchen creates the bake goods, burritos, and the coffee syrups. The syrups are produced with the same ingredients used in their macarons.
Service is knowledgeable about coffees presented and knows their regulars by name.
While many people do hang out in Bema Cafe it is not the cozy traditional coffee shop atmosphere. Instead there is a bright Alaskana mural with a few tables and Wi-Fi is not currently offered. Definitely aimed at the "come and go" crowd which is inline with Sweet Caribou.
The pour over bar uses a two water temperature method and the water mineral chemistry is corrected depending on the level of roast.
Bema Coffee Roasters have a unique focus on exploring coffee processed in different ways when green. From traditional methods like natural and washed to newer experiments such as "co-fermenation" Bema excellently presents them in...
Read moreSuch a warm and respectful welcome as my wife, son, and I entered we notified the gentleman helping us that this was our first time being here, and he suggested a couple options for us and what was popular along with a list of syrups for coffee because I love coffee and drink it almost daily 😆 anyways we placed our orders I then asked the gentlemen making my coffee if I could have a glass because if you drink coffee often you know coffee in a mug just hits different lol!! Which he responded of course and I was extremely happy the food was excellent as the guy explained everything is made from scratch and not just microwaved and i definitely noticed because the burrito was awesome we got sour cream and a choice between two sauces green sauce being mild and the red sauce being a little more on the spicy side! Overall I was super happy with the experience the customer service and hospitality was 10/10 and the food and coffee was 10/10 100% would recommend to check them out!...
Read moreWhen it comes to coffee in Anchorage, there is Bema, then everyone else. There is no coffee that comes close to Bema's quality. The depth of flavor in Jarame's roasts are well curated and carefully planned out. Jarame makes all of his own syrups and they are all excellent. I particularly love the brown sugar cinnamon syrup he makes in a latte. It's one of the most delicious drinks I have ever had the pleasure of drinking. I am a snob with my coffee. One time I got drip from Kaladi, took one sip, and set it back on the counter. I do not eat or drink anything for the sake of anyone's feelings, and I would not call Bema the best coffee I've ever had if it wasn't the best coffee I've ever had. If you've never tried Bema you're sorely missing out. Coffee shouldn't be suffered through, masked with cream and sugar just to get your caffeine buzz. Coffee should be a celebration, a ritual. Bema...
