I love their shakes but they need to get some new waitresses and cashiers. the young white girls arent interested at all in helping you. They just throw the food across the counter at you and dont respond to you when you try to talk to them about the order. They rush thru serving you only to go stand and look at their phones. It's so rude to treat customers like that, to not even be happy to see them or happy to have a job. I ordered a 3 piece over the phone. The girl didn't try to offer me anything else offer me any sausage she didn't tell me there was an extra credit card fee until i got there. She said it was 20 something dollars for cash and 30 something for the credit card I tried to ask her what was the fee she ignored me and then said she didn't know shrugging I don't understand putting people like this at the front counter why not have people like this cleaning the bathrooms or doing online orders? The young white girl working but take out counter to my messed up on my order and charged me $100 and something dollars she didn't apologize for the wait or for the confusion with the machine she tried to blame it on me when I didn't do anything. She didn't offer any free sauces or anything for the inconvenience. She didn't apologize or say thank you or goodnight. She just mumbled her way thru the whole thing and was ignoring me. I will just make my own chicken from now on. I dont think they like black people here. This is the second time I've come and been treated strangely. The girl just tossed my stuff on the counter and some of it fell she didn't come help me pick it up she didn't apologize she just stood and watched and gave me a dry smile if I didn't have sense enough I would have lunged over the counter but instead i just won't bother coming back. 30 dollars for dried out...
Read moreI really think that this is a place that everyone who comes to Anchorage needs to check out! The place is definitely a throwback to years gone by and they have mastered the fare they specialize in (just check out the reviews) I ordered the 4 piece Famous Pan-Fried Chicken (and let me tell you the pieces were absolutely gigantic - breast, leg, thigh and wing) cooked to absolute perfection! The fries were salted well and were thin and crunch! and their cornbread that came with it can not be understated... warm and perfect! The Wishbone Buffalo Chicken Salad was extremely fresh and plentiful and more meat than salad - is that even possible??? I honestly could not finish everything as the portions were massive. I regret not trying their milkshakes because they looked absolutely phenomenal as did the floats and I was impressed with the steady flow both in the restaurant and for takeout. There is tons of parking. The serving staff who were predominantly female were great - knowledgeable, efficient and pleasant! I just enjoyed this meal on so many levels! The place is completely old school - maybe from the 80's (and it has character! They also have some really cool apparel! This year is their 75 anniversary and it doesn't surprise me one bit that they have been around that long! They just operate with a pretty simple recipe - good customer service and great burgers, chicken and milkshakes! Would love if they would franchise lol and am definitely looking forward to coming back again the next time...
Read moreIf you ever find yourself in Anchorage, you absolutely have to visit the Lucky Wishbone. I stopped by on a recent trip, and let’s just say I might need to buy bigger pants.
From the moment I walked in, I felt like I had discovered a hidden gem. The classic Americana atmosphere immediately put me at ease, and the friendly staff made me feel like I was a regular. I even had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Heidi, who was fantastic and incredibly nice. She made sure everything was perfect and chatted with me like we were old friends.
I couldn’t resist starting with the fried chicken, and oh my goodness, it was a revelation. Crispy, juicy, and seasoned to perfection – I devoured every last piece, barely coming up for air.
Then, because I clearly have no self-control when it comes to amazing food, I tackled one of their burgers. It was everything a burger should be: juicy patty, fresh toppings, and a bun that held it all together like a champ. I’m pretty sure I made a mess, but it was so worth it.
By the end of my meal, I was stuffed to the brim, but ridiculously happy. There’s something special about Lucky Wishbone that goes beyond the food. It’s like a warm hug from the past, with comfort food that makes you feel at home.
So, if you're ever in Anchorage, do yourself a favor and drop by Lucky Wishbone. Just be prepared to eat more than you planned – and love every bite of it. And if you’re lucky enough to meet Heidi, you’ll understand why this place...
