Mediocre is how I would describe everything besides the service. The staff is 5 stars, make you feel at home without overdoing it. The beer and food leave much to be desired (as a dark beer drinker). Their Metal Head stout tasted like pure hops. No malts, no roasty-coffee-chocolatey taste. Just hops. Making a black I.P.A. would have made more sense than what they called a stout. In fact none of their dark beers tasted like what they said it should. The barrel aged chocolate/peanut butter porter tasted like neither, just sugar. There wasn't even a burn from the alcohol of the barrel to tell you it was aged, not that it is necessary but something should stick out. The coffee "sunshine" stout didn't taste like coffee besides a faint hint. It seemed more like a gimmick to get caffeine in a beer. I was told they were going to be releasing more dark beers soon. I will give them another opportunity with the next "seasonal releases"... But at this point, I've tried their dark beers twice now and none of them would make it past Q.A. for me. The mushrooms they serve were something a 14 y.o. stoner would come up with. You could throw ingredients at a wall and the shit that stuck would taste better and look more appealing than what they served. Not everything can/should be cooked in a pizza oven at high heat. After the mushrooms I was too afriad to waste my money on any other food items. I've been trying so hard to enjoy this place but it seems like the type of beer they are good at making just isn't the type of beer I enjoy drinking. And all their attempts at making beers I enjoy drinking just fall flat of even the mainstream industries standards, let alone craft beer. It feels like they should focus more on I.P.A.'s and sours. Their Brown Ale was the best dark beer on tap today. Hopefully they can bring in some outside voices or try something different with their dark beers as they currently fall short of everything a dark...
Read moreWe had a very positive experience at Boxing Bear Brewing Company! Their microbrews are outstanding — especially the red ale and apple cider, both of which were flavorful, well-balanced, and clearly crafted with care. The staff were all incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made the visit even more enjoyable. I also tried their pepperoni pizza, and it was a hit— the crust was perfectly baked, and the ingredients tasted fresh and high-quality. Great atmosphere, great beer, and great food. I’ll definitely be coming back when...
Read moreThis is a good local brewery that has moved up from the original location in Corrales. They still have the taproom in Corrales. The have about 15 of their own beers of various styles and strengths as well as a pretty good cider. They also have wine and a couple of cocktails. You probably need mapping software to find it even though it’s not too difficult once you know where it is. They are closed on Sundays at this location. They have no food of their own but there’s usually a food truck parked outside...
